Brett Favre has told ESPN networks that he will require surgery on his left ankle in order for him to play next season with the Minnesota Vikings. Its been reported that Favre is deciding whether to have the procedure or retire after 19 seasons.

Favre stated that the “sense of belonging” he felt in a Minnesota Vikings uniform, makes his decision just that more difficult. Otherwise, he says, it would be easy to quit.

The injury that Favre suffered happened three months ago in the NFC Championship Game. The main concern is it still causes swelling and pain and that an operation is unavoidable. Favre’s agent Bus Cook didn’t immediately return messages left by The Associated Press.

Vikings coach Brad Childress is expected to talk with reporters after the team’s rookie minicamp later Friday.

Here is the play that injured Brett Favre:

Last night I watched “Run Ricky Run” the latest of ESPN’s 30 for 30 series, which is a up close and personal portrait of running back Ricky Williams life. The powerful documentary is a stripped down, no holds barred take on his story, which leaves you shocked and enlightened.

Over the course of 5 years, we the sports world have been fed images of Ricky Williams. The College Athlete, The Heisman Trophy Winner, The Electrifying NFL Star, The man who chose marijuana over his career, The soul-searching man who left football behind to once again return back to the game. Through the various sound bites and images, we have been left to try and understand Ricky Williams storied career.

The documentary looks at his flaws with a microscope, as told by his closest friends and family. The viewer also gets to see a raw and uncut version of the story, the side the Media did not know about, (being molested by his father, social anxiety disorders) which goes far deeper than you could ever imagined.

Not only do you get a chance to analyze Ricky Williams, but you a get a look into what Sports Journalism has become. The business that is Sports news and how it now feels a need to sensationalize and criticize everything to make themselves relevant.

The one thing that stands out in this documentary is the “human element” of Ricky Williams, not the athlete, but the person that is Ricky Williams. What’s important in Ricky Williams’ case, he’s moved forward and finally found a sense of normalcy and inner peace.

Hats off to Sean Pamphilon and Royce Toni for directing a well done documentary. Below you can watch the trailer for “Run Ricky Run”

Domonique Foxworth – BORN to be Great!

In 2005, the Denver Broncos drafted a 3rd Round Cornerback out of the University of Maryland named Domonique Foxworth. He was fast, athletic and brought a good skill set to the table. Many fans look at the player as what he can do on the field and sometimes miss the entire entity and the real person that they are. With Domonique, there is so much more to being being a football player. Read more

On Monday the Jaguars released two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle John Henderson , which clearly opens a starting position for the recently drafted Tyson Alualu who was the Jaguars first pick in the draft.

The Jaguars also released Linebackers Brian Iwuw and Tank Daniels as well as Defensive Tackle Montavious Stanley, and withdrew its offer to linebacker Clint Ingram.

In 2009 the dfensive front finished with a franchise low 14 sacks, which gives reason as to why they have made some changes. Jacksonville drafted four defensive linemen, released defensive tackle Rob Meier and traded for veteran linebacker Kirk Morrison and traded away underachieving end Quentin Groves.

The Jaguars made an attempt to trade Henderson during the draft, beu received no takers and decided to relase the eight-year veteran. Henderson is free to sign with any team and two teams that have showed interest are the New York Giants and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Henderson confirmed to 610 Sports Radio in Kansas City that he will be visiting the Chiefs Wednesday.

A first-round pick in 2002, the 6-foot-7, 335-pound Henderson averaged 84 tackles and 4.5 sacks during his first four seasons. He averaged 56.5 tackles and 2.5 sacks the last four years.

Jason Campbell:Looking for stability with the Raiders

Jason Campbell

Ever since the Washington Redskins signed Donovan McNabb, the writing was on the wall for Jason Campbell. The Raiders acquired Campbell from the Redskins on Saturday for a 2012 fourth-round draft pick. Campbell, who is just looking for some kind of stability in his career, said he will play for his eighth offensive coordinator in 10 years going back to Auburn.

Campbell has been hurt by constantly changing offensive coordinators and schemes since his time at Auburn. He had four different offenses in four years in college, then three more in five years with the Redskins. Now he must learn another new system with the Raiders.

“The main thing about the situation I was going through so many coordinators is, it gives me an opportunity to adapt to an offense really quick because I have to learn a lot,” Campbell said. “The only bad part about it is, it doesn’t give me a chance to mature in one offense unless you’re able to take your game to a whole other level because you feel like you’re always starting over.”

Campbell also said he already has spoken to Raiders managing general partner Al Davis, coach Tom Cable and offensive coordinator Hue Jackson. And after those conversations, Campbell believes he will be the starter in Oakland.

“I feel like I was going to be the starter,” he told NFL Network’s Rich Eisen during the NFL draft. “… I expect to be the starter.”

Cable met with the media following the draft on Saturday and stressed it was an opportunity for Campbell to start and that the quarterback would have to compete for the job. Cable said Campbell will be one of five quarterbacks –Jamarcus Russell, Bruce Gradowski, Kyle Boller and Charlie Frye are the others trying to win the starting job.

Campbell previously signed a restricted free agent tender that pays him $3.14 million this season. He agreed to a $4.5 million extension with the Raiders for 2011, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the extension hadn’t been announced.

“We can do some good things together,” Campbell said of the Raiders. “I see they’re putting together a good draft. They’re putting together a defense that has been outstanding. Last year, their defense started to become one of the premier defenses in the league. If we can help out offensively and turn some things around, anything is possible.”

Campbell started 52 games for the Redskins since being a first-round pick out of Auburn in 2005. He has thrown 55 touchdown passes and 38 interceptions and owns a passer rating of 82.3 in his career. Campbell has been sacked 102 times since the start of the 2007 season, tied for third-most in the NFL in that span behind Roethlisberger and David Garrard.

Some highlights from Campbells short lived career in Washington
