FANTASY FOOTBALL PICKUPS: Week 16
FANTASY FOOTBALL PICKUPS: Week 15
FANTASY FOOTBALL PICKUPS: WEEK 14
By Gayle Saunders
Lets get ready for week 14! If you’re trying to get to the next level, be crafty my friends. Don’t try to get too cute by making moves when you don’t have to. Make sure you have your head ready to go deep into the playoffs. I’m rolling into this week in 1st place in my fantasy leagues at 11-2 (What did you expect?) By the way whats your record? If you need some advice for this week please look below. Good Luck this week!
QUARTERBACKS
Christian Ponder -Minnesota Vikings - Ponder put up some numbers this past weekend with 381 passing yards and 3 TDS. The downside he had 3 turnovers as well. He has six touchdown passes in his last three games. But the reality is the rookie has five interceptions in his last three games. If in need the rookie is hot or cold.
Matt Moore -Miami Dolphins - Moore is a crafty dude and he can get you points in various ways. Last week it wasn’t so pretty but he did run five times for 22 yards, including a running TD. On the day Moore finished with 162 passing yards and a TD, having completed 13 of 25 passes. Moore now has six total touchdowns over the last three games and nine scores over the last five. Moore does get a questionable Philly defense next week. and solid matchups against the Bills and Patriots the next two weeks.
Rex Grossman – Washington Redskins - You can never know what to expect from Rex, but the only promising thing I can tell you, is that he gets the New England Patriots. Positive news right? The Patriots just gave up 353 yards to Dan Orvlosky??? Rex has a good shot to get his “passing on” this week. If any week to possibly play him…its this week.
TJ Yates – Houston Texans- Somebody has to throw the ball in Houston and Yates wasn’t too shabby on Sunday. On the day he completed 12 of 25 passes for 188 yards and a touchdown lets not forget he went up against a tough Falcons defense. He didn’t look too bad considering it was his first NFL start.
RUNNING BACKS
Marion Barber -Chicago Bears - Barber gained 44 yards on his 14 carries, he had 0 receptions coming in for Forte. Nothing to exciting folks however, He will be a popular add this week. He does get a tough Broncos defense in week 14. He has flex potential but thats about it, The Bears offense looks lifeless these days.
Roy Helu – Washington Redskins- If he’s still there for you…grab him asap. Helu balled out rushing for 100 yards on 23 carries. He topped 100 yards for the second straight game and added a rushing TD. In the passing game, he also had four grabs for 42 yards as he was targeted six times. A no brainer grab here.
Maurice Morris – Detroit Lions - Kevin Smith is made of glass as he reinjured his ankle again. Morris had 17 touches on the day against the Saints and had 28 yards on 12 carries, and 5 catches for 47 yards and a TD. Morris will have an expanded role vs. the Vikings…believe that. He is def worthy of a flex play this week esepcially in PPR leagues. (Yup he’s on my bench already folks)
Donald Brown -Indianapolis Colts - Once again, Brown leads the Colts backfield in stats. He recorded 14 carries for a team-high 41 yards and a touchdown. Even though Addai is in the mix his nagging injuries are effecting his value. The only reliable force the last couple of weeks has been Donald Brown. He gets a tough Ravens defense this week though. Look to use him against the Titans in Week 15.
Toby Gerhart – Minnesota Vikings - Gerhart came alive on sunday with 91 rushing yards and 8 grabs for 42 yards. If in fact Adrian Peterson sits again, Gerhart is a must play. He does get a tough Lions defense but he’s worth a flex play for sure.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Demaryius Thomas – Denver Broncos - Thomas will have to thank Eddie Royal for getting injured because in his absence he had four catches for 144 yards, and 2 TDS. One word to focus on is “unreliable” here. He gets a tough Bears defense this week, But he gets the Patriots in Week 15 and in week 16 the Bills. If your in a deeper league he’s worth a play here. If you’re a gambling man or woman throw him in as a flex play if you have no other options. Check back to see the status of Eddie Royal moving forward.
Johnny Knox – Chicago Bears - If Caleb Hanie is still around he’s going to look Knox’s way for sure. Out of all the receivers Knox was the most-targeted on Sunday. He had 5 catches for 53 yards, This weekend he goes up against the Broncos secondary which was shredded by Percy Harvin. He’s a risky play if anything, but to make the playoffs sometimes you gotta take chances. You play to win the game don’t you?
Brad Smith – Buffalo Bills – Smith got the starting nod on Sunday and put up some decent numbers. 7 grabs for 72 yards folks. The most impressive thing was that he got targeted 10 times. The last two weeks he has put up 149 yards and looks to have added value in PPR leagues.
Golden Tate – Seattle Seahawks - The youngster got the starting nod as well with Sidney Rice placed on IR, Against the Eagles, he had 4 grabs for 47 yards and a TD. That now makes two games in a row where he’s scored a TD. He gets a nice matchup with the Rams secondary who are the worst pass defenses in the NFL. If its any week to use Tate…its this one.
Damian Williams – Tennessee Titans - He’s been targeted by Hasselbeck early and often the last couple of weeks. His team may be coming behind in this next matchup vs. the Saints so he could see increased numbers. After the Saints, he gets the Colts in Week 15, Do you see the upside I’m talking about?
Riley Cooper – Philadelphia Eagles - Again with Young under center Cooper led the Eagles in receiving yards with 94 yards. Vick looks like he’ll probably be back, so do monitor the situation. Please look at Maclins health as well, because if he’s playing there’s no use in deploying Cooper. With Maclin and Jackson up and down, Cooper has come up with most of the plays as of late.
Nate Burleson- Detroit Lions - He put up some decent numbers vs. the Saints with five catches for 93 yards. The thing is, he could’ve had even more yards and catches if he didn’t get flagged with so many pass interferences. The upside is this… he has four straight games with 5 grabs which makes him valuable in PPR leagues. He gets a Vikings secondary this week which makes him a great play.
TIGHT ENDS
Jermaine Gresham – Cincinnati Bengals - No Not again! Yup Gresham had a another touchdown stolen from his fantasy owners for the second week in a row. He was also overthrown on another potential scoring play. On the day he caught just three passes for 37 yards in the loss. The positive here…he’s getting targeted early and often, making him the second most targeted Bengals reciever.
DEFENSE
Denver Broncos- Even thought the Broncos D got shredded versus the Vikings they did come up with three turnovers and even scored a TD. With Von Miller back in the mix they should play tough against a Cutler-Forte less Bears offense. The Broncos are playing inspired.
Seattle Seahawks - Seahawks are playing some defense folks. They’ve held 3 of the last 4 teams they’ve played to 17 points or less. Last thursday against the Eagles they forced 4 turnovers and the news gets better this week as they get a Rams Offense that has been unimpressive. A solid defensive play this week.
FANTASY FOOTBALL PICKUPS: Week 13
By Gayle Saunders
Lets get ready for week 13! If you’re trying to get into the playoffs and beat that douche in your office league listen up! Here are some crafty pickups for week 13.
QUARTERBACKS
Vince Young -Philadelphia Eagles - With Vicks health a concern and his ribs still iffy, a Young pick up makes sense, especially after he threw for 400 yards and 1 TD. Don’t forget he added another 40 yds. If he’s in the lineup the next two weeks he gets the Seahawks and the Dolphins. Be sure you monitor the QB situation in Philly.
Kyle Orton – Kansas City Chiefs - Somebody has to play QB in Kansas City right? The Chiefs offense needs stability and Orton may be that guy for them. His next few matchups are pretty harsh for a QB learning a new system with the Bears and the Jets followed by the Packers. If in need at QB, Orton could help. (Owners of Dwayne Bowe keep praying for things to turn around)
Matt Moore -Miami Dolphins - In the last two weeks Mr. Moore has 4 TDS and 0 ints. Moore has 7 TDs over the last month and he is a big reason for the turn around in Miami. Moore gets the Oakland Raiders this week who’ve allowed at least 2 TD passes in each of the past 4 games and 9 of the last 10. The numbers don’t lie folks, If its any week to play Moore its this week.
Rex Grossman – Washington Redskins - Grossman is fantasy relevant again folks and with 5 TD’s and 606 passing yards in the last 2 games He gets a feisty Jets defense next week, but after that its the Patriots and the Vikings. Look his way if in need.
TJ Yates – Houston Texans- Again somebody has to throw the ball in Houston with One game wonder Leinart gone now. I’m not to crazy about Yates, but keep an eye on him this week to see how he progresses. Don’t forget he has a helluva a running game and Andre Johnson to throw to.
RUNNING BACKS
Roy Helu – Washington Redskins- If only Shanahan would keep this kid locked in as “his” guy we could see numbers like this every week from Helu 108 yards, 1 TD and 7 receptions for 54 yards. Not bad eh? Helu is worth adding to your roster no matter whose on it. If available stash him or start him in PPR leagues!
Maurice Morris – Detroit Lions - With the Lions backfield ya never know what you’re gonna get and with Best gone (I cry) and now Kevin Smith iffy as usual, the last man standing is Morris. Kevin Smith could be back soon, but either way he splits time with Morris who is a great play in PPR leagues. You did see that he had 9 catches for 81 yards right?
Joe McKnight – New York Jets -If Tomlinson is a no go check back with Joe McKnight. Even though he was held in check last week, he did get 4 carries for 21 yards and 3 receptions for 19 yards and 106 return yards. He is a decent runner and fantasy owners should consider him a possible flex option in Week 13 at Washington especially in PPR leagues. He is a no brainer if you get return yards in your leagues.
Donald Brown -Indianapolis Colts - Addai is back and what does that mean to Donald Brown? Absolutely nothing. Brown racked up 97 total yards and a TD. Look for Brown to be more involved going forward until someone challenges him for his #1 spot. He’s worth putting on your bench as long as he continues to get his “beast” on.
Toby Gerhart – Minnesota Vikings - Gerhart is worthy of a roster spot while Peterson is out…of course. He had 63 combined yds with a TD last week. My guess is AP isn’t going to play and if that is the case look Toby’s way for your filler. He gets Denver next week which got shredded by San Diego last week. (mental notes folks)
WIDE RECEIVERS
Greg Little – Cleveland Browns - Little had 1 TD and 5 catches for 57 yards vs. the Bengals. For the 3rd straight week he’s posted at least five receptions and 50 yards. The positive here folks is he’s getting targeted by McCoy often. If you play in a ppr league, Little has some value.
Johnny Knox – Chicago Bears -Even though Knox had Caleb Hanie throwing him the rock, he did manage to get targeted 10 times, which equaled 4 grabs and 145 yards and a TD. Knox can make the big catch as we’ve seen as of late. Keep your eye on Knox because maybe we haven’t seen the last of the Hanie/Knox connection.
Damian Williams – Tennessee Titans - Williams has three scores in the past four weeks and looks to be Matt Hasselbeck’s go to guy down around the goal line. The Titans get a banged up Bills secondary and get the Colts in Week 15.
Riley Cooper – Philadelphia Eagles - Cooper has been a deep sleeper of mine for some time. Cooper now has 146 yards and a touchdown on eight catches over the last two weeks. He’s shown some playmaking ability as of late, with DeSean Jackson coming up lame. If Vick and Maclin are back he’s not worth a pickup, but if Vince Young is under center look Coopers way.
Jason Avant- Philadelphia Eagles - Avant got busy last week pulled in 8 catches for 110 yards and a TD. With Jackson and Maclin hot and cold, Avant is worth a look, as he’s been consistent as of late. With the Eagles normally coming from behind he is a likely a check down option, which equals alot of quality garbage catches.
TIGHT ENDS
Marcedes Lewis – Jacksonville Jaguars - Lewis has gotten into the mix as of late as he’s had 11 catches for 111 yards in the last 2 games. If in need at TE, Lewis is getting targeted these days and has some favorable matchups against Tampa Bay and Tennessee down the road.
Brent Celek- Philadelphia Eagles - Celek is averaging 5.5 receptions and 64 yards with two touchdowns over the last 6 games. The next two defenses he faces are Seattle and Miami. Both teams have had issues with Tight Ends. Celek gets the cowboys the last week of the season and he shredded them in the first game.
Jermaine Gresham – Cincinnati Bengals - Gresham came up big with five catches, 68 yards, and a TD versus the Browns. Gresham is developing a nice relationship with Andy Dalton. He’s worth a grab as he’s scored a touchdown in two of his last 3 games.
DEFENSE
Denver Broncos- Don’t look now but the Broncos are playing some defense. They get a Vikings team next week that’s averaging just 14 points over the last couple of games. Either way the Broncos D is holding down the fort! Without Adrian Peterson in the lineup Denver gets a great matchup.
San Diego Chargers- The Chargers get the Jags offense which has been pretty bad as of late. The Jaguars haven’t even cracked more than 20 points this season. So…if its anytime to play the Chargers Defense its now.
FANTASY FOOTBALL PICKUPS: Week 12
By Gayle Saunders
Lets get ready for week 12! There are no more bye weeks folks and its now a good time to start thinking playoffs!!! (in My Jim Mora voice) If you’re looking for some players for this week or perhaps deep sleepers to help you make a run in the playoffs, look no further. Below you’ll find some crafty pickups for week 12.
QUARTERBACKS
Carson Palmer – Oakland Raiders – Again dont sleep on Carson folks. Although he came short in the yards passing, he still threw 2 touchdown passes. He gets a tough Bears team next week and that means he’ll be more than likely passing the ball alot. Look for more passing yards and perhaps another two touchdowns. I’m telling you now with Darren McFadden back in the mix, things could get explosive.
Josh Freeman – Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Believe it or not but the young stud has been dropped in some circles. He This past week he got back to his old self throwing for 342 yards and 2 TDs against Green Bay. Don’t forget that Freeman gets the Titans, Panthers and the Jaguars the next 3 games. Get the picture?
Matt Leinart- Houston Texans- You never know what your gonna get right? Life is like a box a chocolates and lets hope that Leinart is like that Forrest Gump saying. A healthy Andre Johnson and an explosive running game are nice weapons to have. You can lean on a tough 1-2 run game and take risks with Johnson. If in need its worth the risk!
Alex Smith -San Francisco 49ers - Smith opened up the passing game last week with the Cardinals secondary throwing for 267 yards and had multiple TDs. Too bad the Cardinals D isn’t the Ravens Defense, but the 49ers are playing balanced football so that means you could still get some TD passes. He’s targeted his Tight End Vernon Davis by the goaline which is a bonus. Roll him out if you’re in need. Don’t forget that he gets the Rams and Cardinals the next two games, closing out with the Seahawks and Rams. All favorable matchups!!!
Andy Dalton – Cincinnati Bengals - Dalton put up some stats this past weekend versus a tough Baltimore Defense. He even had a TD called back don’t forget. On the day he threw for 373 yards with his back up receivers putting up big numbers. Dalton does have multiple TDs in six of his last seven games. He has some upside in weeks to come so stash him on your bench.
Matt Moore -Miami Dolphins - Don’t sleep on Moore people. On Sunday he threw 3 touchdowns and has six scores during the Dolphins 3 game win streak. He gets a Cowboys team this week that has built some swagger, but he’s playing confident. Moore gets an Oakland defense, and favorable defenses in the Patriots and the Bills to come.
Rex Grossman – Washington Redskins - Grossman is always a gamble , but ya never know when “Sexy Rexy” shows up or the “Messy Rexy” shows up. Grossman can easily throw 4 picks in a game (Eagles Game) or throw three TDs in a game (Cowboys game) He does have some favorable matchups down the road in New England, Minnesota and Seattle. Owners beware, he’s a complete gamble.
Jake Locker -Tennessee Titans- Hasselbeck left last weeks game injured and Locker provided the spark for the offense. In limited time he put up 140 yds with 2 TD’s. You will have to monitor this situation to see if Hasselbeck misses any time. If so, look Lockers way, as the rookie could give you some decent stats with some rushing yards to boot! Do not sleep on Lockers wheels, the kid can run!
RUNNING BACKS
Kevin Smith – Detroit Lions - If you are a Jahvid Best owner, this is your pick up this week. Smith got busy this week with 140 rushing yards, 61 receiving yards, and 3TDs on the day. Yea thats a whole lotta stats…no? He also gets a Carolina defense this week, that can easily be run on. With no timetable on Jahvid Best return…the answer for you is why not?
Ryan Grant -Green Bay Packers -James Starks sprained his knee last week and with a shortened week (They play on Thursday) Starks is probably a no go for the Detroit game, Grant would be the main guy, if Starks cant go. I’m not saying either guy is putting up numbers with all the weapons in Green Bay, so with that said, if you need a filler at RB look his way.
Chris Ogbonnaya -Cleveland Browns - Ogbonnaya showed up nicely last week with 115 rushing yards and a TD. You will have to monitor this situation going forward as Montario Hardesty is back in the mix and is practicing. I own both these guys in one league and this situation could be interchangebale by the week.
C.J. Spiller -Buffalo Bills – With Fred Jackson status up in their air you might want to give Spiller a look. You must monitor if Fred Jackson is a go. Jackson is 40 percent of that Bills offense so Spiller could be featured lovely. Def a flex play in need.
Joe McKnight – New York Jets -Shonn Greene and LaDainian Tomlinson are hurting these days so depending on the status of Tomlinson look his way, McKnight had 121 total yards on 22 touches against Denver. Greene has a good chance to play but McKnight could be used as a 3rd down back which means he could pick up some catches for you PPR (points per reception) league owners.
Donald Brown -Indianapolis Colts - Brown started, and was more effective than rookie Delone Carter, who had just six carries for 14 yards. Brown has played well recently, and should continue to see a lot of work, especially until Joseph Addai (hamstring) returns. He’s worth a look if you need a plug and play at RB.
Toby Gerhart – Minnesota Vikings - With Adrian Peterson possibly out, Gerhart is worth a look if in need. Gerhart is worth considering as a short-term plug-in for anyone needing some running back help and that is about it. Gerhart only had 18 yards on seven carries, nothing to get hyped about here.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Jerome Simpson – Cincinnati Bengals - With A.J. Green out, Simpson came up huge with 8 catches for 152 yards. His situation all depends on AJ Green’s health, if he’s a no go Simpson is worth a play.
Michael Crabtree -San Francisco 49ers- Crabtree is back folks, and he delivered against the Cardinals. Crabtree had 120 yards on seven grabs. Crabtree gets the Ravens this week so it could be a tough road this week. However, Baltimore got shredded last week for 400 passing yards against the Bengals. Down the road Crabtree has some nice matchups so stash him now.
Jabar Gaffney -Washington Redskins - With Rex Grossman Gaffney has more upside and will look at Gaffney down field, Gaffney had a 11 targets, 7 catches for 115 yards and a TD. He has scored a touchdown in two of the last three games folks. As long as Santana Moss is iffy Gaffney is “The Guy” in the Redskins offense.
Nate Burleson -Detroit Lions - If you look at the last two games, you’ll notice that Burleson has put up some decent stats. With 15 catches for 146 yards and a score. He gets a Green Bay bay defense that has given up some passing yards lately. In PPR leagues he is worth a look with (Megatron) Calvon Johnson getting all the Defenses attention, Burleson can slip through the cracks and get get some love from Stafford.
Harry Douglas – Atlanta Falcons - Monitor the situation with Julio Jones health before deploying Douglas. Don’t forget two weeks ago he was targeted 14 times with Jones out of the lineup. Last week he had 4 catches for 51 yards nothing to get excited about but he was still in the mix.
Earl Bennett – Chicago Bears -Last week he was targeted 9 times and over the last 3 weeks he has at least 75 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He was Cutler’s go to guy and with Cutler gone now, Hanie is sure to look his way. The Bears have some favorable matchups down the stretch. You’ll have to monitor the situation to see if the rapport is there with Hanie and Bennett.
Damian Williams – Tennessee Titans - With Nate Washington back you’ll have to monitor this situation going forward. Even though he came up lame last week, he was targeted 11 times against the Falcons, which is something you have to take notice of.
Riley Cooper – Philadelphia Eagles - Cooper has been a deep sleepr of mine for some time. Last week he finally got a solid look with Maclin out. He had 5 catches for 75 yards and a TD against the Gmen. If Maclin is back it changes Coopers effectiveness. If Vick is back it also changes his worth. Vince Young favors him due there scout team chemistry.
TIGHT ENDS
Heath Miller – Pittsburgh Steelers - If he’s still out there, Miller has been pretty effective this year. He gets the Kansas City chiefs who were shredded by Gronkowski so if you own him or he’s out there make sure you play him this week.
Jermaine Gresham – Cincinnati Bengals - Woulda,Coulda,Shouda Us what you could say about the score Gresham could have had last week, if they didnt call back his touchdown. Gresham gets a Cleveland defense who can easily be exploited by tight ends. The last time they faced eachother he had 6 grabs, 58 yards, and a TD. I’m just saying.
Kellen Winslow-Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Not sure what got into the Bucs offense last week, but either way you look at it Kellen Winslow was a big part of it. In 3 of the last 4 games Winslow has scored a TD brought in over 100 yards. Respectable stats? I think yes! Next 3 matchups are the Titans, Panthers and the Jaguars.
Jacob Tamme- Indianapolis Colts- Yes Jacob Tamme is relevant again…who knew? With Dallas Clark still iffy you gotta look Tammes way at TE. The game before the bye he had 6 cathces for 75 yards…Not too shabby. Don’t get too excited for the return of Tamme remember Painter is throwing him the ball. If in need at the TE position, why not?
DEFENSE
Seattle Seahawks- You know Grossman is always due to turnover the rock, so thats a positive right there. The Seahawks defense has showed up lately and they’ve only given up 24 points in the last two games. Don’t forget they play at home and have the twelfth man at home to help out.
Washington Redskins- The Redskins get a Seattle offense who like to run the rock, but passing the ball isn’t their forte these days and I could see the Redskins trying to make a statement after last week big loss to the Cowboys.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Anytime when you know you facing a rookie QB as a defense its somethign to get excited about. They get to possibly face Jake Locker folks. So ya never know what could happen, maybe a couple of INT’s and a pick 6 in the making? essee. The next two matchups are against the Panthers and the Jaguars.
FANTASY FOOTBALL PICKUPS: Week 11
By Gayle Saunders
Lets get ready for week 11! Pay attention to your lineups as these 4 teams are all on byes this week : Indianapolis, Houston, New Orleans, and Pittsburgh. If you’re looking for some help this week, below you’ll find some crafty pickups for week 11.
QUARTERBACKS
Carson Palmer – Oakland Raiders – Dont sleep on Carson folks. Did you see the Chargers game vs the Raiders? Right now Palmer is averaging over 300 yards passing and has 5 touchdowns in only 2 starts with the black and silver. Lets get real for a second Darren McFadden hasn’t even played with Palmer yet, lets not forget he was leading the NFL in rushing for a quick second before injury. Palmer gets the Minnesota Vikings in week 11 who have a short week since they’re playing on Monday night.
Matt Leinart- Houston Texans- The good news is Leinart has a pretty nice vehicle to jump in the drivers seat and drive (that being the Texans offense) He gets a healthy Andre Johnson who will be back, and a run game featuring the best one two punch in the game, with Arian Foster and Ben Tate. This kind of run game is something he never had in Arizona. If they rely heavy on the run and he doesn’t turn the ball over, he has a chance to succeed. With that being said, I’m crossing my fingers for potential owners!
Christian Ponder – Minnesota Vikings- Ponder is playing smart football for a rookie and he gets the Raiders next week. Oakland has allowed multiple touchdowns to opposing QB’s in 7 of the last 8 games. If in need, dial up Christian Ponder this weekend. I cant promise you he’s gonna win the game, but he’ll surely be putting up numbers.
John Skelton -Arizona Cardinals - Skelton completed 21 of 40 passes for 315 yards and three touchdowns during the Cardinals’ 21-17 win over Philadelphia in Week 10. Skelton subbed for injured Kevin Kolb and threw 3 touchdowns as well as completing 52.5 percent of his passes. You might want to monitor Kevin Kolb’s health this week, as he looks to be a no go. Look for Skelton if you’re in need. He gets the 49ers, but ya never know when a team has a let down game. Ask Philly what Skelton did to them. The Cardinals will probably be playing from behind, which equal mucho passing stats.
RUNNING BACKS
Dexter McCluster- Kansas City Chiefs- McCluster got heavily involved this past weekend with 14 touches versus Denver. He had 6 catches for 48 yards and rushed for 45 yards on eight carries. The Chiefs will most likely be playing from behind so that means heavy passing and McCluster could be the check down guy. Hello PPR leagues!
Donald Brown-Indianapolis Colts - Brown is the only Colt’s RBs getting major touches lately. He ran the ball 14 times, and picked up 53 yards. He also caught four passes for 12. The colts are on a bye which means he could be forgotten about over the next week. If in need and desperate, look his way.
Chris Ogbonnaya – Cleveland Browns - Ogbonnaya put up 109 total yards last sunday, Ogbonnaya’s value rests on the health and availability of Hillis and Hardesty, but if both backs are out again in Week 11, Ogbonnaya could be worth a try in deeper leagues. The Jaguars will provide a tougher test. However he should get 20 touches with Peyton Hillis and Montario Hardesty both potentially out again.
Kendall Hunter – San Francisco 49ers - Hunter had six carries for 40 yards and a touchdown during the 49ers’ 27-20 win over the Giants in Week 10. Hunter also had one catch for four yards while being targeted three times. He gets Arizona next week and if Gore is out Hunter could get a hefty dose of carries. If Gore remains banged up Hunter could fill his shoes quite nicely. You could always store this guy for future Gore injuries. Ya never know folks.
Lance Ball – Denver Broncos - With Moreno out for the season that leaves often injured Willis McGahee to compete with. We all know that Denver likes to run the rock. So with that being said take a flyer on him asap. This week he carried the rock 30 times for 96 yards.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Denarius Moore – Oakland Raiders - If he’s still lingering around in your 10-12 person league, now is the time to grab Moore. He’s being heavily targeted by Palmer and with Jacoby Ford out and he will be pressed to do even more. Moore’s last two games should be evidence that he’s a gamer.
Antonio Brown – Pittsburgh Steelers - Brown has showed the fantasy world that he means business. Big Ben is certainly looking Browns way and he’s getting targeted early and often these days. Brown is receiving the same amount of targets Mike Wallace is getting and he’s the #1 receiver???. Right now Hines Ward owners should be concerned.
Laurent Robinson- Dallas Cowboys - Robinson is straight balling these days. With four touchdowns in the past 3 weeks how could you not agree? Miles Austin is still nursing a hamstring injury and Robinson gets the Skins who have been pretty effective at limiting opposing wideouts, but the Dallas passing game is hitting on all cylinders heading into this matchup.
Harry Douglas – Atlanta Falcons - With Julio Jones hamstring injury, a problem it was Douglas to the rescue. He had a huge game where he was targeted 14 times. On the day, he had eight receptions for 133 yards! If Jones remains iffy, look for your boy Harry Douglas asap!
Chad Ochocinco New England Patriots – I know he only he had two catches for 65 yards. The promising part is that he is slowly coming around and word is the chemistry is coming. I know…I know, how long can one man wait. Look for him to blossom late in the season as the rapport between Brady and Ocho escalates. The “Brocho” connection coming to a store near you.
Damian Williams – Tennessee Titans - With Nate Washington banged up Williams came up huge. 107 yds and one TD versus Carolina, equals not to shabby. Williams has a TD or 60 yards recieving in 5 of his last 6 games. He has promise with Hasselbeck looking his way often. He’s worth owning on your bench.
Vincent Brown San Diego Chargers Another rookie looking to make noise is Mr. Vincent Brown. He has at least 79 yards in back to back games, and almost had two scores on Thursday night. As long as Malcom Floyd is iffy health wise Browns has some value.
TIGHT ENDS
Ed Dickson – Baltimore Ravens- The man put up some numbers last week. 10 grabs, 79 yards, and 2 TDS! Look for Dickson to come off the board fast after posting those stats. Dickson has plenty of upside, especially when the Ravens are trying to throw the ball heavy. If your looking for a bye week TE, he’s your guy.
Jacob Tamme- Indianapolis Colts- Yes Jacob Tamme is relevant again…who knew? With Dallas Clark injured, Tamme becomes the guy at TE again. He had six receptions for 75 yards versus the Jags. We know Peyton is not in the mix so with that said his numbers could be up and down. He has some value in PPR leagues though.
DEFENSE
Dallas Cowboys Defense- When you can shut down the Buffalo Bills something is going right on defense. They’re lucky enough to get a Redskins defense who has lost its identity and Rex Grossman playing again doesn’t mean squat.
Cleveland Defense- The Browns get a Jags team that does not equal an offensive juggernaut. They match up well and could make the Jaguars work for a W. Look for a low scoring game and a Browns defense looking to force turnovers with a young qb under center.
Jackosnville Jaguars - Well the same thing can be said about the Browns offense which isnt scaring anyone these days. You did see a Jaguars D shut down a Ravens offense a couple weeks ago right? Again as written above, look for a low scoring game and a Jaguars defense looking to force turnovers with a young qb under center.
FANTASY FOOTBALL PICKUPS: WEEK 10
By Gayle Saunders
Lets get ready for week 10 people. The good news is there are no teams on a bye week. Its time to deploy all of your superstars… if they’re healthy! (damn you Jahvid Best & Darren McFadden) If you’re looking for some help, below you’ll find some crafty pickups for week 10.
QUARTERBACKS
Carson Palmer – Oakland Raiders – Palmer used the bye week to get his game together. He completed 54.3 percent of his passes and connected with eight different receivers. He might even have found a favorite target by the name of Denarius Moore who he targeted 13 times.
Sam Bradford – St. Louis Rams- Bradford threw for 255 yards but no touchdowns. Keep up on Bradford’s progress, cause he’s bound to get his groove back.
Andy Dalton – Cincinnati Bengals – The rookie is making strides… He threw for a career best three touchdown passes vs. the Titans last week. A stat not to ignore: Dalton now has 12 touchdown passes on the year along with seven interceptions. He’s maturing by the week and he looks more comfortable with the offense. He gets Pittsburgh this week so it’s going to be a tough matchup to play him and feel comfortable.
Christian Ponder – Minnesota Vikings- Don’t forget Ponder’s big day vs. the Packers with 219 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs in Week 7. Also, don’t forget he out-dueled Cam Newton and brought his team to victory in Week 8. In Week 9 he had a bye, so better believe that he’s got something to show in week 10. You gotta believe folks!
Matt Cassel – Kansas City - Cassel has a nice matchup in week 10 against the Denver Broncos, and he should be able to exploit them if he’s on his game. In Week 11, he gets the New England Patriots on Prime time Monday night. He’s up and down, but when he’s on, he’s on.
RUNNING BACKS
Roy Helu – Washington Redskins- Finally, Shanahan takes off the leash and lets Roy Helu rip. Although he only rushed for 41 yards, he had a whopping 14 grabs for 105 yards. It helps when your QB John Beck has no one to throw to but the check down.
Maurice Morris-Detroit Lions- As long as Jahvid Best is out, Morris is going to have value because of the strength of the Detroit offense. No one knows when Best will be back. (I know its killing me too!)
Donald Brown-Indianapolis Colts - Brown is the only one of Colt’s RBs getting scores lately. He had 16 carries in Week 9 versus 4 for Delone Carter. The Colts leaned on Brown after Delone Carter came up lame in week 9. Take a close look at this situation going forward.
Chris Ogbonnaya – Cleveland Browns - Ogbonnaya is likely to be the featured back again in Week 10. He’s a decent play against a weak Ram’s run defense and is best as a flex option.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Earl Bennett – Chicago Bears – Cutler got his favorite receiver back, and theirs is a relationship that goes back to college. Their connection showed and proved versus the Eagles as he turned 5 targets into 5 catches for 95 yards and a TD. Yup pick him up as he’ll be the number 1 option moving forward who’s not named Matt Forte
Antonio Brown – Pittsburgh Steelers - Brown has stepped his game up seriously. The best part about it is that he is getting targeted early and often these days. Mike Wallace remains the No. 1 option in Pittsburgh, but he looks like a solid No. 2 option going forward. Yes, a better option than Hines Ward at this moment.
Steve Breaston – Kansas City Chiefs - If you bought into the Baldwin hype like I did…go get Breaston ASAP. Breaston pulled in 7 receptions for 115 yards. Buy into Breaston’s upside and his reliability versus the Baldwin Hype.
Torrey Smith Baltimore Ravens - Mr. Smith has been unreliable as of late. But looks like Flacco is continuing to go his way for the long ball any chance he gets. Seattle is tough against the run, but not so much against the pass. Look for Flacco to go deep to Smith.
Laurent Robinson- Dallas Cowboys - News flash: Miles Austin got hurt again! So what that means in Week 9 is it’s important that you take a flyer on this guy! He only had 5 catches for 32 yards in Week 9, but he had a TD grab. Get him if ya still can.
Michael Crabtree – San Francisco 49ers - Get on the Crabtree train now whle there’s still time! This past Sunday he had 1 TD and 5 grabs for 54 yards. Crabtree’s foot is getting back to normal and he’s building trust with Alex Smith week by week.
Damian Williams – Tennessee Titans - Hasselback has gained some confidence in Williams with Britt going down with injury and Nate Washington taken out as well. Look Williams way if you’re in need.
TIGHT ENDS
Jake Ballard – New York Giants - He is building a solid foundation with Eli Manning. Catching a game winning touchdown will do that sometimes.
Brent Celek – Philadelphia Eagles - Celek continues to be targeted by Vick. That is 3 games in a row where he’s been heavily favorited by his QB. Against the Bears he had 9 targets 7 catches for 60 yards. He has racked up 18 receptions for 196 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns over his last three games. Enough said.
Scott Chandler -Buffalo Bills - All he does is catch touchdowns. Of his 18 receptions this season, six have gone for touchdowns If you’re in need and willing to take a gamble, he’s worth a look.
DEFENSE
Washington Redskins- Washington does have a good defense folks. They get an inspired Miami team in Week 10, But lets get real here…this defense isn’t the Chiefs.
FANTASY FOOTBALL PICKUPS: Week 9
By Gayle Saunders
Lets get ready for week 9 so pay attention to your lineups as these 4 teams are all on byes this week : Detroit, Jacksonville, Minnesota, and Carolina . If you’re looking for some help this week, below you’ll find some crafty pickups for week 9.
QUARTERBACKS
Carson Palmer – Oakland Raiders – You have to believe that Palmer used the bye week to get his timing with his players and dig in the playbook. The positive here people, is he get’s the Broncos. If you’re looking for a fill-in for Matthew Stafford or Cam Newton look no further.
Sam Bradford – St. Louis Rams- Bradford still has some great matchups remaining. Now that he is getting healthy look for him to let loose and connect with Brandon Lloyd. He gets Arizona defense who has been torched as of late. Keep an eye on his injury status this week to see how his ankle is!
Andy Dalton – Cincinnati Bengals – Two touchdowns in 3 of the past 4 games people. He gets the Tennessee Titans who have allowed at least 250 passing yards and/or multiple TD passes in five straight games. Dalton’s future fantasy playoff dates are with St. Louis and Arizona in the next couple of weeks.
Christian Ponder – Minnesota Vikings- Its Ponder time. Although he’s on bye next week he’s worth a back up QB spot. Ponder showed some promise last week and went 18 for 28 for 236 yards and a touchdown against the Panthers. Ponder has some athletic ability and can also give you some much needed rushing yards.
Matt Cassel – Kansas City - He passed for 261 yards and a TD on Monday night however he had two ints. The positive here he gets some nice matchups. Cassel gets Miami, Denver, and New England during weeks 9, 10, and 11. These 3 teams have the most points to opposing quarterbacks, which has to make you smile right?
RUNNING BACKS
Javon Ringer – Tennessee Titans-Ringer is now in the rotation and he’s getting equal the carries as Johnson. Ringer was taking fourth quarter handoffs vs the Colts and not Chris Johnson. CJ has been ineffective and Ringer clearly looks like the better runner. (Sounds weird I know)
Kregg Lumpkin – Tampa Bay Buccaneers- LeGarrette Blount will be back this week, but be aware that they’ll look his way if there are any health issues with Blount. Lumpkin will get those 3rd down back stats like Earnest Graham did. He has some great PPR value people.
Ryan Helu/Tashard Choice- Washington Redskins- Helu didn’t receive a single carry last week, but you never know with a two game losing streak Shanahan could switch it up with his backfield. Helu could get the bulk of carries in the next coming weeks. Tashard Choice was just signed and is now in the mix. Keep your eye on him as well.
Maurice Morris/Keiland Williams-Detroit Lions - With Jahvid Best still a question mark with that concussion, Morris and Keiland Williams should be owned until you know 100 percent that Best is back healthy.
Kevin Faulk -New England Patriots - The savvy vet returned from injury in Week 8 and had six carries for 32 yards along with five catches for 20 yards in the game. Talk about instant numbers coming off injury! We all know New England backfield is the Wu-tang of backfields in the NFL. However Faulk is Brady’s favorite of the bunch. Owners in PPR leagues should take notice.
Chris Ogbonnaya – Cleveland Browns - Right now the Browns backfield is hurting. Peyton Hillis has missed the last two weeks with a bad hammy, Montario Hardesty has an injured calf. Although Ogbonnaya was just signed a couple weeks back, he’s had 5 catches in each of his two games with the Browns. Against the 49ers he had 37 yards on 11 carries. Monitor this situation as Ogbonnaya could be a nice option, if he is called upon to take the place of Hillis and Hardesty.
Lance Ball – Denver Broncos - If Willis McGahee misses another game next week, you could take a chance on Ball who gets an Oakland defense that has given up some yards to running backs. Against the Lions Ball rushed for over 60 yards on just six carries.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Braylon Edwards – San Francisco 49ers - Edwards was dropped by tons of fantasy owners when he got hurt. He had a decent 1st game back with four catches and 42 yards and 7 targets. Look for Edwards to get more involved with the passing attack.
Mario Manningham – New York Giants - Don’t count Mario out folks. He put up a solid game last week and with 63 yards and a TD when Nicks went out. If Nicks is a no go that means more balls for Manningham. With Cruz coming on strong as of late, look for Manningham to get the rock a bit more.
Jon Baldwin – Kansas City Chiefs - The rookie had an epic home debut with 5 catches for 82 yards and a touchdown. Remember he’s coming off injury people. When you get almost the same amount of targets as Dwyane Bowe that says something. Head coach Todd Haley has already made it known he wants to get the young rook involved and he sure didn’t lie about that one….did he?
Torrey Smith Baltimore Ravens - Smith is a guy that Flacco is looking at if the chemistry gets better Smith can start producing better numbers. He’s worth a grab to either stash or if your in need now take a shot on his big play ability.
Antonio Brown – Pittsburgh Steelers - With savvy vet Hines Ward Mr. Brown will produce. Pittsburgh may have finally tapped into the future this week seeing that he was targeted 15 times this past weekend. On the year he has 63 targets which only 6 more than stud Mike Wallace. To be honest the Steelers have been more dangerous with Brown in the lineup. He finally scored his first touchdown and maybe this is the first time you should really get this guy in your line up. He also has the following pass defenses to play against the Chiefs, 49ers and Rams on the schedule.
Early Doucet – Arizona Cardinals - He isn’t putting up crazy yardage but does have a TD grab in back to back games. He looks like an option for this week if in need.
Steve Breaston – Kansas City Chiefs - The last five games Breaston has been involved in the offense consistently. He had 3 catches for 42 yards but the previous four games he had least 50 yards in four straight games. You gotta appreciate the consistency.
Michael Crabtree – San Francisco 49ers Get on the Crabtree train now while you still can, on Sunday he had 1 TD, five grabs for 54 yards. Crabtree’s Foot is getting back to normal and he’s building trust with Alex Smith week by week.
Doug Baldwin – Seattle Seahawks Although he came up lame against Cleveland he caught five passes for 73 yards vs the Bengals on Sunday. Stats don’t lie and Baldwin has had at least five catches in three of the last four games. The only consistency in the Seattle passing attack lately.
Damian Williams – Tennessee Hasselback has gained some trust in Williams lately with Britt going down with injury. He caught a TD in back to back weeks in week 4 & 5. He just recently had 60 yards against the Colts on Sunday. With Hasselbeck getting everyone involved there is no go to guy with the Titans so if in need take a flyer.
Greg Salas – St. Louis Rams - The rook is now Danny Amendola 2.0 for the rams and is playing well in the slot. Last weekend he caught five passes for 47 yards and he will soon get a healthy Bradford back. If you’re looking for a ppr type of receiver look Salas’ way.
TIGHT ENDS
Jake Ballard – New York Giants - Ok Ballard had a decent game last week … best believe he is still building rapport with Manning. Over the past 4 weeks he’s averaging 60 receiving yards with a pair of touchdowns. So with that said, He’s the guy at TE you should be looking at especially the Patriots being vulnerable against the pass.
Brent Celek – Philadelphia Eagles - If he’s still out there pick him up. Celek had his breakout game of the season last Sunday and even led his team in targets. Celek hauled in seven passes for 94 yards and a TD against Dallas. That makes two touchdowns in the last two games. He gets a Chicago defense that’s been vulnerable to opposing tight ends. TE’s have averaged six catches and 70 yards per game with six touchdowns. Like I said pick him up!
Scott Chandler -Buffalo Bills - All he does is catch touchdowns and that’s what he did last sunday versus the Redskins. He caught two passes on the day and both went for touchdowns. Always a risky play since he isn’t high priority in the Bills passing attack. But he can gets those grabs by the goaline for sure. If you’re in need and need to take a gamble, he’s worth a look.
Marcedes Lewis -Jacksonville Jaguars - Looks like they may be getting Lewis more involved. He only had 45 yards and 4 grabs, but with nine targets, its a sign for the better. Keep an eye out for this guy.
DEFENSE
Atlanta Falcons - Anybody playing the Colts is worthy of a start, lets just be real here.
FANTASY FOOTBALL PICKUPS: Week 8

By Gayle Saunders

Hello peeps! Lets get ready for week 8 so pay attention to your lineups as these 6 teams are all on byes this week : Atlanta, Chicago, Green Bay, New York Jets, Oakland, and Tampa Bay. If you’re looking for some help this week, below you’ll find some crafty pickups for week 8.
QUARTERBACKS
Carson Palmer – Oakland Raiders You might have drank the cool aid early last week, however Palmer played on limited practice with his new team. He only came in due to Kyle Bollers weak performance. So with more practice he should get his timing down with his recievers. Don’t be scurred!
Sam Bradford – St. Louis Rams- Again people have been scared off, but down the road Bradford has some pretty good matchups ahead of him. At the moment he is coming off injury, but look towards the future weeks, when he and Brandon Lloyd get on the same page.
Alex Smith – San Francisco 49ers – Smith could still be out there after coming off his bye week. He’s had 6 TDs in his last 3 games people and on top of that he gets the Browns in week 8. Enough said.
Andy Dalton – Cincinnati Bengals – The Rookie is coming into his own and he’s lucky to have the Seahawks this week and pass defense is not their forte . Look for Dalton and the Bengals to take advantage of them early. Cedric Benson is out for this game so look for them to probably stick to the air with plenty of screens and dump off passes for Bernard Scott or Jermain Gresham.
John Beck – Washington Redskins - Beck had a solid performance in his first start as a Redskin. He threw 1 TD and ran for another one and passed for 279 passing yards. Can’t beat that Beck had two rushing touchdowns in back to back weeks. He’s crafty in the pocket and has the ability to scramble and extend plays. He gets the Bills who’ve allowed at least 292 passing yards in each of the last five games.
Christian Ponder – Minnesota Vikings- Its Ponder time. The young rookie shined in his starting performance. He completed 13 of 32 passes for 219 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in the 33-27 loss. He gets the Panthers this week and the rookie has shown he’s not afriad to air it out. The Vikings offense could open up in the next couple of games, especially if they’re playing from behind like they’ve been.
RUNNING BACKS
Knowshon Moreno – Denver Broncos- Willis McGahee is out witha broken hand and Moreno should be looked at. He will be a hot waiver wire target. He rushed for 28 yards on seven carries last week but also shared some time with Lance Ball. He’s a good option for PPR leagues, if in need. My last selling point…the Lions are allowing 5 yards a carry to opposing running backs.
Ben Tate -Houston Texans - We all know that Arian Foster is the man in Houston but look no further than Mr. Tate who is making the most of his touches. If the owner in your league hasn’t picked this guy up or has recently dropped him to make room for someone else. Make sure you give him a hard look, last week he had a 104-yard performance. The Texans get the Panthers and the Colts, so you could see Tate gets some quality garbage time if the Texans go up on these teams early in games.
Kregg Lumpkin – Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Sad to say but Earnest Graham is done for the season. The Bucs had the bye week for LeGarrette Blount’s sprained knee to heal. BUT knee injuries are always iffy, Lumpkin only had 15 yards on eight carries last week but he did have 6 catches for for 37 yards, HELLO…PPR leagues anyone? He makes an interesting pick up if Blount is not fully healthy. He could play a Graham type role which is a positive.
Montario Hardesty – Cleveland Browns- Hardesty had a hefty dose of the run last week. He had 122 total yards against a pretty decent Seahawks front four. Please monitor this situation as Peyton Hillis could miss next week’s game vs the 49ers. If you need a flex play Hardesty could fit that role this week.
Bernard Scott – Cincinnatti Bengals- Cedric Benson finally got that suspension that Scott owners always wanted. Scott will get the start against Seattle. Scott is a shifty back who can catch out of the backfield and Im sure the Bengals will get creative and find ways to get him touches. Either way Scott is a decent fill in for a flex option for the bye week.
Delone Carter – Indianapolis Colts- Joseph Addai can’t stay healthy and Carter is making the best of his time. Last week he rushed for 89 yards and a TD only on 10 carries. The Colts get a Tennessee defense that has allowed a 100-yard rusher in each of their last 2 games. That’s got to make you feel comfortable…right?
Maurice Morris/Keiland Williams – Detroit Lions - Morris and Williams split the backfield touches with Jahvid Best out on Sunday. Morris got 31 of his 50 rushing yards on one play, but he was more involved in the passing game. Williams also looked decent on the ground and looks like the better short yardage option. Lets get real here for a second Best could be done for the year ( I know…I own him
) Its a ugly rumor but hey you have to cover all bases and stash one of these guys just in case.
Alfonso Smith / LaRod Stephens-Howling – Arizona Cardinals - Beanie “I’m always injured at some point” Wells got injured again. Smith came right in and had a rushing TD against the Steelers. On the day he only had 17 rushing yards on five carries. You have to look back to week 3 when he came in for Wells and had 75 total yards. The Cards get the Ravens, but if your looking for a reach than Smith is your guy if you play in deeper leagues. Take note PPR league folks LaRod Stephens-Howling will come in on passing downs which kind of hurts Smith’s value a little. Stephens-Howling caught two passes for 76 yards and a score vs the Steelers Sunday.
Roy Helu – Washington Redskins – Helu has some upside, but he looks like a change-of-pace player at the moment. You have to monitor this situation because you can never figure out what Shanahan is gonna do here. Don’t forget Torain is injury prone so you could always stash Helu and hope for a Torain injury (Did I really just say that?)
Michael Bush – Oakland Raiders - After McFadden went down with a foot injury, Bush became the Raiders’ main man. He had some decent runs and filled in nicely with 17 carries for 99 yards. If McFadden is a no go in week 9, Bush can easily carry the load if called upon. Make sure you Fantasy owners watch McFaddens health in the next week. Word on the street McFadden is walking around in a walking boot. (I’m just saying)
Jackie Battle – Kansas City Chiefs – Mr Battle got his run on last weekend against the Raiders 76 yards on 16 carries in the 28-0 win. He didnt find the endzone, but he did split time with McCluster and Thomas Jones. So his numbers were promising and he broke a run for 24 yards. Battle averaged 4.8 yards per carry against the Raiders, with that said are you sold? I think I am.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Terrell Owens – Free Agent – TO will be working out for teams on Tuesday…perhaps you may want to jump on this if your willing to take a gamble or you play in deeper leagues. Its hard to bet against TO after being injured…well you saw him play in that Superbowl after fracturing his leg right?
Jabar Gaffney -Washington Redskins- Santana Moss’ hand injury makes Gaffney a wise choice. The Redskins will look his way to take the place of Moss. He has some decent match ups in the next coming weeks. Terrence Austin has also showed some chemistry with Beck, so keep an eye on him as well.
Demaryius Thomas – Denver Broncos- The young receiver was targeted a whopping 10 times last weekend. Need I say more? This means Tebow is looking his direction. He only had three catches for 27 yards but he did score folks. Brandon Lloyd is now out of the mix so that means you too have to look Demaryius Thomas’ way!
Terrance Austin – Washington Redskins - Could be a sleeper pick up folks. Beck and Austin have chemistry back to the preseason. Last week Beck targeted hime 6 times which could go up with Santana Moss gone for two months.
Niles Paul – Washington Redskins – Yet another Redksins wide receiever. This WR position is something you will have to monitor closely peeps. Shanahan called this guy a potential star in the NFL. Last week he recorded his first two catches in Week 7. I’m just saying… take notice and keep an eye out for him.
Greg Little – Cleveland Browns- The rook has at least five catches in three straight games and led the Browns with seven targets on Sunday. Take a look his way if you play in PPR league. He’s also got some heavy looks in the red zone this year. Either way you look at it, the Browns really have no other option but to pass to Little. Which is good for you.
Antonio Brown – Pittsburgh Steelers – He’s been getting ton of targets and he gets the Patriots defense who have been passed on like crazy. Brown was the most targeted receiver for Roethlisberger in the game on Sunday. Brown has been a solid receiving option for the Steelers on a weekly basis. He just needs to score a TD… real talk.
Early Doucet – Arizona Cardinals - Doucet has been targeted in the Cardinals passing game, and with that said, the Cardinals have been playing from behind as of late. That means Kolb and the offense will have to throw early and often as they try and come from behind to get a win. If your in need of a fantasy receiver with potential he could be it.
Steve Breaston – Kansas City Chiefs – With five catches and 64 yards on Sunday, Breaston has at least 50 yards in four straight games. One of those games was against the Chargers, who just gave up three scores to a number two wideout and travel to Arrowhead on Sunday.
TIGHT ENDS
Jermaine Gresham – Cincinatti Bengals - The Bengals will probably opt to throw the rock around versus Seattle, with no Cedric Benson to carry the load. Rookies love Tight Ends folks… it’s just a fact.
Heath Miller -Pittsburgh Steelers - Roethlisberger loves him some Heath Miller in the red zone. Mr Miller now has TD’s in two of the last three games. The Steelers are lucky to get a Patriots Defense that has given up some big games to opposing tight ends.
Visanthe Shiancoe – Minnesota Vikings - I will say it again for you slow people. Rookies QB’s love their tight ends. Shiancoe could get some serious work in the next couple of weeks. I would buy into the Shiancoe stock. He gets the Carolina defense this week so thats a bonus for you.
Jake Ballard – New York Giants – People are still sleeping on Ballard, maybe its because he had a bye week and people forgot about him…but the fact remains the last two games he’s played in he’s had two TD’s. Eli Manning approves this message!
Brent Celek – Philadelphia Eagles – He might be out there in your league. People may have forgot about Celek’s role in the Redskins win. Celek is finally becoming a part of the offense again. Like I said last week Vick has made it known that he needs to get his TE more involved.
DEFENSE
Cincinnati Defense- The Bengals have played defense this year…they dont get to 4-2 just on Andy Dalton’s back people. They get the Seattle Seahawks this week…end of story!
KICKERS
Olindo Mare – Carolina Panthers – Mare was 4-of-4 on field goal attempts and 3-of-3 on extra points Sunday against the Redskins. Mare connected from 20, 45, 45 and 40 yards Sunday and is now 13-of-15 on the season. If the Panthers’ keep moving the ball Mare is def an option a kicker.
FANTASY FOOTBALL PICKUPS – Week 7

By Gayle Saunders
Follow Him on Twitter
Ok folks listen up and pay attention to your lineups as these 6 teams are all on byes this week : Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, and the San Francisco 49ers. If you’re looking for some help this week, below you will find some crafty pickups for week 7.
QUARTERBACKS
Sam Bradford – St. Louis Rams- Believe it or not good old Sammy has been seen on some waiver wires. Rams have been hit with the injury bug and they are starting to pick up some pieces. Bradford He’s threw for 321 yards but failed to score. Lets not forget the Rams just signed Brandon Lloyd and Danario Alexander is beginning to heat up.
Matt Cassel – Kansas City Chiefs – Do not look at Cassel’s first couple of games look at his last three people. Matty Boy has seven touchdowns and 1 int. Now look at the next defense he faces which is the Oakland Raiders, who have allowed 11 passing touchdowns in the past five games. If you need a guy for bye week you should be drinking the cool aid by now.
Andy Dalton – Cincinnati Bengals – The fiery red head had a nice little two td game streak going until this past week. The rook completed 80 percent of his throws for 264 yards and one TD this past weekend. The Bengals get a bye this week, after that hey get a Seahawks Defense that has allowed their last four QB’s to throw for least 252 yards. The Seahawks play well against the run so look for Andy Dalton to start chucking it up early which could equal a 300 + passing game.
John Beck – Washington Redskins – After Rex Grossman threw up 4 picks against the Eagles in week 6. Beck didn’t look to bad coming off the bench. Beck went 8/15 with 177 yards and a rushing TD. With a weak schedule coming up look for Shanahan to perhaps take a chance on a QB change.
Christian Ponder – Minnesota Vikings- Its Ponder time. What else have the Vikings got to lose, it’s not totally McNabb’s fault, but when you lose that many games it could mean some good experience time in the near future for Ponder. Use him only if you have no other options in your league at QB.
Carson Palmer – Oakland Raiders Vikings Yes folks Carson Palmer is relevant again. Jason Campbell broke his collarbone on Sunday and the Raiders know Kyle Boller isn’t the answer.
RUNNING BACKS
DeMarco Murray – Dallas Cowboys- Felix Jones looks to be injured again. Which means Murray should be starting next week. You might want to take a gamble and scoop him now, cause you know an ankle injury could be a problem down the road for Felix Jones. Murray will have a nice matchup against a St. Louis defense next week if he gets the go.
Ricky Williams -Baltimore Ravens - Williams role in the offense will probably increase as the season goes. You can probably bet that Ricky will stealing some goaline carries, which is bad news for Ray Rice owners. Don’t worry if he doesn’t get a heaping dose of carries, the ones that he will get are those that are in the red zone!
Earnest Graham – Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Graham got the call this week for the Bucs and started for the injured LaGarrette Blount. Graham put up 109 rushing yards and also had 22 yards receiving. While they have not said if Blount is out again next week. Don’t wait he is worth a start if he’s out there.
Montario Hardesty – Cleveland Browns- Hillis has a legit hamstring injury so they say, which is good news for new Hardesty owners. You have to remember Hamstring injuries are nagging ones. On the day Hardesty got more carries than Hillis. There were initial reports that Hillis got benched, and rumors continue to fly in Cleveland that he may be traded due to the lack of progress in contract discussions. Again, all good news for potential Hardesty owners.
Bernard Scott – Cincinnatti Bengals- Cedric Benson finally got suspended so that now leaves room for Scott to show what he can do the only problem its for 1 game and not the expected 4 games. However if you need a RB for the bye week look no further.
Delone Carter – Indianapolis Colts- Joseph Addai was injured in week 6 and Carter got the chance to start. Carter got 14 carries to just five for Donald Brown. Addai’s status for next week is unknown. If Carte gets the start he gets to go against a New Orleans defense that is allowing 5.1 yards per carry. He’s worth a look if in need.
Maurice Morris/Ronnie Brown – Detroit Lions - Jahvid Best had a concussion in the fourth quarter last game. Not sure what the status is on Best, they might keep him out for a game since he has a past with concussions. Morris is the best bet to earn most of the touches. You also have to factor in that the Lions just traded for Ronnie Brown. Watch this situation closely before the start of the game on Sunday.
Stevan Ridley – New England Patriots- The positive here is Ridley got the start this week. Lets just say it didn’t work out to well with only 19 yards on the day. Put him back on your bench until further notice and wait for him to show more consistency.
Jackie Battle – Kansas City Chiefs - Even during KC’s bye week, Battle’s ownership percentage skyrocketed in preparation for next week’s matchup with the Raiders. Oakland’s run defense has shown improvement over the past couple weeks, but don’t forget that they allowed opposing ball carriers to run for 465 yards over the previous three weeks. Todd Haley has talked about getting Battle more involved and did just that against the Colts in Week Five.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Michael Crabtree – San Francisco 49ers- Crabtree seems to be healthy after a rough start this his foot. Last week he had a 9 catches for 77 yards. When healthy Crabtree can do damage, he continues to show flashes which is why he was targeted 15 times against the Lions. He has a bye week this week. Pick him up if he is still out there in your league.
Danario Alexander -St. Louis Rams- Alexander had some health concerns which is why he was limited early this season. He had 91 yards in week 6 against Green Bay. On the day he finished with six catches and he also was targeted 10 times. With the signing of Brandon Lloyd he could even see more looks with Lloyd getting more of the defenses attention.
Jacoby Ford -Oakland Raiders - Ford had a break out game in week 6 against the Browns. Ford had a 101-yard kick return for a TD, 3 catches for 43 yards. He’s had decent games in back-to-back weeks now. That said, Ford is getting healthy and he has Carson Palmer coming to the rescue, which could mean wonders for his numbers. He’s worth a gamble and he’s already on my bench!
Jacoby Jones – Houston Texans- He is becoming Schaub’s favorite target not named Owen Daniels. Jones scored his first TD of the season this week and is a decent start while Andre Johnson is out. Jones had four catches, 76 yards, and a score against Baltimore. He has some big-play potential…but is he reliable week to week is the real question.
Doug Baldwin – Seattle Seahawks - Mr. Baldwin had 8 catches for 136 yards against the Giants in week 5 if you didn’t forget over the Seahawks bye week. In 3 of the Seahawks 5 games he’s had at least 83 yards. With both Tarvaris Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst getting time the last couple of games, he’s had a good chemistry with both. This week he gas the Browns secondary, who might be more focused on Sidney Rice than Baldwin. So he could get some major looks against the Browns.
Greg Little – Cleveland Browns- He is finally a starter and what does that mean? It means, its time to focus on the Mr. Little from now on. In the last two games he’s had back to back 6 reception games. Right now Little is the most targeted Browns WR at the moment. Last game vs the Raiders he had 6 receptions for 72 yards. Colt McCoy is looking his way so that means you should too Mr. Fantasy Football GM!
Torrey Smith – Baltimore Ravens – There is upside here. He exploded on the scene a couple of weeks back but he’s been kind of quiet as of late. Ravens hope he comes into his own and with Boldin getting lots of attention he’s due for some big plays. He’s worth a bench spot or a plug in play bye week scenario. You never know when he’s going to have his next big breakout game.
Jerome Simpson – Cincinatti Bengals- Pretty impressive numbers for Simpson on Sunday with 6 catches for 101 yards right? All I can say is the kid has upside and should be watched closely people. He’s talented and each week he is gaining more confidence from Andy Dalton. If you’re looking for decent depth on your bench or a flex play he is worth a look in a ppr league.
James Jones – Green Bay Packers – James Jones says look at me! Look at me! Each week its hard to know which Packer wideout will be the man but real talk has it that Jones has scored in the last three games. If you are in need of a bye week receiver he’s your guy. He should never be your go to guy weekly, but if you have no other choices and you need a gamble, then he is SO your guy.
Darrius Heyward-Bey -Oakland Raiders- Do not sleep on Mr. Heyward-Bey people. In the last three games he’s racked up 17 catches and 296 yards. You have to believe with the addition of Carson Palmer it will only help him, from the last 3 weeks as his evidence, the kid has upside. Raiders next two matchups are Kansas City and Denver, who are the worst at stopping opposing wide receivers. That should be music to your ears.
Steve Breaston – Kansas City Chiefs – Breaston has at least 50 receiving yards in three straight games, and when Cassel and company have the Raiders up next that means Breastons numbers could rise as the Chiefs passing attack are favored against the Raiders secondary. It also helps when he’s playing opposite of Mr. Dwayne Bowe.
Dane Sanzenbacher- Chicago Bears -If you noticed, Cutler doesn’t have a lot of targets to choose from in the WR corp. He does have Dane Sanzenbacher who is coming off a couple if decent games for the Chicago Bears. Cutler is starting to gain confidence in him and looking for him early and often. With the way the Bears line plays Cutler always needs a check down option. In the next couple of weeks expect his role to increase as he gets more and more comfortable in this offense.
Greg Salas – St. Louis Rams – It was Salas coming out party, he had 8 catches for 77 yards. Before last week he had five catches for 48 yards. Each game the Rams will most likely be chucking the rock so Salas could have some value in PPR leagues.
TIGHT ENDS
Jared Cook -Tennessee Titans - The Titans had a bye last weekend, What does that mean for Jared Cook, perhaps they have come up with more ways for him to get involved. He is slowly but surely putting it together on the field and if in need…look at Cook for a bye week fill in.
Lance Kendricks – St. Louis Rams – He had a decent game vs the Packers with 4 catches and 71 yards. Kendricks was supposed to be the break out guy early on, but maybe all the pressure got to him. However he is getting back up on the high horse folks. Lucky for him he gets the Cowboys Defense next week who are among the worst at defending opposing tight ends. If you’re in need of a bye week fill in, he’s worth a look.
Jake Ballard – New York Giants – If there was such thing as a Kevin Boss 2.0 it would be this guy. Its not like you have to rush out and pick him up as he has a bye this week, but going forward he’s worth a look. The last two weeks he’s had TD’s in back to back weeks. He had 81 yards in week 6 as well. As Eli Manning keeps looking his way…you should too!
Brent Celek – Philadelphia Eagles – Celek finally came into the mix vs the Redskins as he lead the Eagles in targets. He looked pretty dam good compared to his first 5 games. Vick has made it known that he needs to get his TE more involved, which is good news for you owners out there. Eagles have a bye this week so look for him to be a decent matchup vs the Cowboys the following week.
Fred Davis – Washington Redskins- If you didn’t know by now Chris Cooley is officially cooled down as the guy at TE. Fred Davis is the man with the plan folks. If you’re playing in a league full of idiots, pick him up asap. He should be started most weeks as he’s been consistent and producing weekly. He had another 95 yards vs the Eagles this past weekend and to make matters better for you Chris Cooley needs surgery on his finger, Cooley will be out a few weeks.
DEFENSE
San Francisco Defense- The 49ers play defense…no I did not stutter. Don’t forget this defense held the Lions to 19 points. If you see them in the streets pick them up! Right now you can been seen every week with them as your starters…its official call your parents and tell them your in a serious relationship They play in a weak division and have an easy schedule.
Dallas Cowboys Defense - The Cowboys are lucky they get a Rams squad who has yet to score more than 16 points in a game, and the Cowboys Defense is starting to pick up as they put up a decent effort vs the Patriots until the last drive. But Bradford is not Tom Brady folks.
Atlanta Falcons Defense - Easy… Easy…I know the Falcons get the high flying Lions this week, But the Falcons defense has played decent this season. With the Lions coming off a tough loss vs. the 49ers, the Falcons could take advantage of a young Lions team.
Cleveland Browns Defense – In Week 7, the Cleveland Browns get the Seattle Seahawks. The Browns are fourth in the league in stopping the pass with a decent secondary. Tavaris Jackson is not scaring anyone these days so he poses no threat for the Browns defense. Consider the Browns a solid play against the Seahawks.
KICKERS
Josh Brown – St. Louis Rams – Josh Brown is Mr. Reliable in St. Louis. The Rams are second in the league in kicking. Make sure you scoop up Brown if you can during the bye week, truth be told he’s on his way to kicking mucho field goals this season.
