Fantasy Football Pickups – Week 5

Ok folks listen up and pay attention to your lineups as these 6 teams are all on byes this week : Ravens, Browns, Cowboys, Dolphins, Rams and Redskins. If you’re looking for some help this week, below you will find some crafty pickups for week 5.

QUARTERBACKS
Mark Sanchez – New York Jets Some dude in your league got scared away by Sanchez’s performance last week and possibly dumped Mr. GQ…however let me state that before the Ravens meltdown he was averaging 295.3 yards per game and seven touchdowns. Jets are lucky to get the New England Patriots defense, who are giving up mucho yards. Right now they are at the top of the list in the AFC of pass defenses giving up crazy yards. Teams are averaging 376.5 passing yards a game against the Patriots…I did not studder. Plaxico B. and Holmes should have fun this week! Of all weeks Sanchez is safe to play this week.

Matt Hasselback -Tennessee Titans Don’t front on Hasselback just because he is a Titan show the man some respect. This season he’s averaging 288 yards and two TDs per game. A healthy Hasselback can put up stats even losing Kenny Britt. RB Chris Johnson gave him some help last week finally breaking 100 yards and remember his name TE Jared Cook will be forced into help this offense go in the next couple of weeks. If you need a plug in and play type of guy Hasselback can get it done.

Kyle Orton- Denver Broncos News flash News Flash Orton isn’t going anywhere and he is still the man in Denver. Don’t sleep on Orton as he is on pace to throw for 3,780 yards and 32 touchdowns. He’s ranked 14th in passing in Fantasy folks. However in week 5 the broncos get San Diego which means after the Broncos get down they could be throwing the rock a lot. Can you say garbage minutes which equals garbage points :)

Colt McCoy -Cleveland Browns The young gun although not always a reliable fantasy option at QB, put up some numbers last week. The Browns threw the ball 61 times on Sunday, which resulted in McCoy throwing for 350 yards a touchdown and an INT. Yes the Browns have a bye this week, but looking down the road the Browns schedule gets easier folks. If your looking for a QB for your bye weeks he can be an option is all I’m saying.

Sage Rosenfelds – Miami Dolphins- Keep an eye on this cat as Chad Henne is gone for the season people. If you need a starting QB, he could be starting sooner than later.

RUNNING BACKS

Ryan Torain- Washington Redskins - If you’re a Hightower owner that you hate Mike Shanahan for benching TH last wee for Ryan Torain. However if you want to make matters worse you go out and scoop Ryan Torain while the getting is good. Shanahan has some loyalty with Torain back to their Broncos days so you knew this was bound to happen. Against St. Louis Torain had 19 carries for 135 yards, and a TD. Just know that Torain is every bit of Injury prone so keep that in mind. After the bye week the Redskins get the Eagles who have been giving up 5 yards a carry to opposing backs….yea that’s what I said 5 yard s a carry!

Stevan Ridley- New England Patriots - The young rook Ridley is living up to his name. The Patriots play and unbalanced attack you can never know who is gonna break out on any given Sunday and Ridley did his thing in Week 4. He averaged 9.7 yards per carrying, finishing with 100 total yards and a touchdown. If you look at the backfield he’s gotta be the best runner in that backfield. Still expect a running back by committee, but do keep your eye on this kid he’s worth a early pick up now before the rest of your league realizes this. Week 5 he gets the Jets and you did see the Raiders game right…the Jets defense gave up 200 yards rushing. So he’s worth a shot in deeper leagues.

Isaac Redman- Pittsburgh Steelers - Mendenhall could be an iffy play this week with a bad hammy so look no further than Isaac Redman, who’s averaging 4.9 yards a carry this season. With Roethlisberger banged up, the Steelers could rely on the run this week against the Titans. Why risk more injury to you QB if he is playing at 60 percent. Redman could be the focus for sure this week, If you need a guy just for this week I say to you this….Why not?

WIDE RECEIVERS
Victor Cruz- New York Giants Mr. Cruz had a season-high nine targets and caught 6 passes for 98 yards. This is his second straight week of being fantasy relevant. If Eli keeps up the confidence in Cruz this could develop further even if Manningham gets back into the mix. Oh… one more thing they get the Seahawks secondary this week. Scoop him up!

Mike Thomas- Jacksonville Jaguars The Jags most reliable target is WR Mike Thomas by far. Thomas has 40 targets, with the next-closest player being Jason Hill with 19. Thomas over the last two weeks has averaged 9.5 targets, converting them into 4.5 receptions for 64 yards and 0.5 TDs per game. Last week he had five receptions for 73 yards and no TDs. He perfect for you if you need a wideout during the bye-week.

Jacoby Jones- Houston Texans- You do know that All World Andre Johnson is out this week and Jacoby Jones or Kevin Walters should pick up all the scraps this week. The Raiders have allowed the ninth-most fantasy points to wideouts this season. Arian Foster could get a heavy dose of carries but…they gotta pass it to someone. Look for at least 6-8 targets.

Kevin Walter -Houston Texans- You do know that All World Andre Johnson is out this week (see above)

Michael Jenkins- Minnesota Vikings- Donovan McNabb has established a nice rapport with Jenkins, who has been his most consistent receiving option this season. Plus, Arizona has also struggled at limiting the Fantasy points scored by opposing wide receivers. Jenkins is a solid bye-week replacement.

Michael Crabtree- San Francisco 49ers - Crabtree is beginning to get back to his form after dealing with injuries, just remember the 49ers are crazy conservative, however Crabtree saw nine targets last week vs. the Eagles which resulted in five receptions for 68 yards. He could be available in your league. He’s worth a look folks.

Antonio Brown- Pittsburgh Steelers- Mr. Brown was targeted 10 times for five receptions and 67 yards last week. In my eyes that means you have to take notice of this cat now. Currently he’s averaging eight targets for 4.3 receptions and 69.7 yards only problem is he hasn’t scored yet. He’s a flex option at best right now.

Preston Parker- Tampa Bay Buccaneers They call Preston Mr. Third Down. If you saw Monday nights game you saw how Freeman targeted him. Parker has a way of finding windows to get open in zone coverages. And if Parker is open Freeman will find him. a knack for finding the hole in zones and has really become Freeman’s go-to guy when the pressure is on him. Keep an eye on his progress going forward as he should continue to see passes thrown his way as long as Sammie Stroughter is out.

Steve Breaston – Kansas City Chiefs Breaston has a two-game average of 5.5 targets for 3.5 receptions for 73 yards and no touchdowns. Lets get serious for a second we’re talking the chiefs offense so keep your eye on this guy for now. Week Four he had five targets with four receptions for 91 yards. So keep following him in the upcoming weeks.

Jabar Gaffney – Washington Redskins - Gaffney has been pretty steady over the last three weeks averaging six targets for 4.7 receptions and 61.3 yards. The only problem is no TDs, but he’s been reliable and that’s what you want out of your fantasy guys. Even though he’s not putting up monster numbers you know what your getting with Jabar right? He worth a shot down the road in deeper leagues.

TIGHT ENDS

Jared Cook- Tennessee Titans - I know Cook only caught two passes last week, but he finished with 93 yards and a touchdown in Cleveland. Cook has been rumored to be a breakout player and last weeks performance might have given fantasy owners a flash into the future. The question is are you willing to take a gamble on the 6-foot-5, 250-pounds, who has a combo of size and speed people! Remember Britt is gone and Hasselback is steel feeling out his weapons and Cook might be one.

Jermaine Gresham- Cincinnati Bengals - Given the success that tight ends have had against the Jaguars so far this season, there is no reason to bench Gresham going into Week 5.

DEFENSE
Tennessee TitansThe Steelers don’t actually look like the Steelers we’re used to seeing so the Titans could be worth a play. Against the Browns the Titans sacked Colt McCoy 3 times took a pick to the house. Don’t sleep on the Titans.

Cincinnati Bengals - When you think Bengals you might smirk, but the proof is the Bengals defense is solid people. Corners Leon Hall and Reggie Nelson are balling out and the get the Jaguars this week. Yes the Jaguars whose best option is Mike Thomas. Bengals are worth starting this week.

Fantasy Football Pickups – Week 4

QUARTERBACKS

Jason Campbell- Oakland Raiders
Campbell was also effective in the hurry-up offense as he completed six short passes in a two-minute drill to set up a 54-yard field goal by Sebastian Janikowski on the final play of the half to tie the game this week. He was listed as probable for the game with a foot injury, but did not show any lingering effects of an injury and also added 10 rushing yards. Consider Campbell as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy QB for Week 4 against New England.

Vince Young-Philadelphia Eagles  This week was the first time he was activated in his first season with Philadelphia. As long as Vick remains healthy, Young will have no Fantasy value. But with Vick’s status in doubt for Week 4 against the Niners, Young could be in the mix for the starting job but only short term. This will be a situation that will have to be monitored closely throughout the week. He’s just a stopgap No. 2 QB option in Fantasy for Week 4.

Matt Hasselbeck – Tennessee Titans Hasselbeck’s doing well in Tennessee, but it could get tougher with Britt most likely gone for the season. At the moment it looks like Nate Washington is his guy frome here on out . Many of his passes on Sunday were on dumps and screens.  Hasselbeck will serve as a good, not great, Fantasy choice. He’s in for a challenge in Week 4 when he plays at Cleveland.
Donovan McNabb – Minnesota Vikings McNabb is a veteran QB so the fact he needs to work on his mechanics is never a good thing. Though the savvy vet has actually completed more than 60 percent of his passes in his last two games and has just one interception in three games, so the Vikings cant just blamearen’t McNabb’s play. For now, McNabb is a low-end Fantasy start heading into Week 4 against the Chiefs.

Curtis Painter – Indianapolis Colts Painter did a decent job of moving the ball in limited action, but he did cough up a fumble on a sack that ultimately proved to the the difference in a 3-point loss. He could possibly have a week of first-team reps in practice under his belt heading into Week 4 at Tampa Bay and seems to have a good chance of taking over for good if he plays well with Manning out for the season and Collins woefully under-performing to date. The weapons he could have at his disposal (Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Pierre Garcon, Austin Collie) could make him a sleeper option if he can settle in nicely, but he remains merely a flier pickup off the waiver wire at this point.

RUNNING BACKS

Bernard Scott -Cincinnatti Bengals Should Benson  lose his appeal, he would begin serving the suspension in Week 4 against the Bills, making Scott as the team’s primary running back. With the possibility he could see significant playing time for the next few weeks makes him a very attractive option off the waiver wire this week.  Fantasy owners will have to keep close tabs on this situation.

Stevan Ridley -New England Patriiots Ridley came into Week 3 with just two carries for 9 yards through two games. He got most of his reps in the second half and played mostly in shotgun formations, so he got carries on delays and draws. He ended up as the most effective back for New England, which is why he had his best day as a pro. But Ridley is still technically third on the depth chart behind BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead heading into Week 4 against the Raiders but if your’re in a deeper league he’s worth a shot.

DeMarco Murray  – Dallas Cowboys Murray has done little to this point and Monday was supposed to be his best game with Jones hurting. Murray could have his best game Week 4 against Detroit, as Jones did re-injure that shoulder in the MNF game late. Still, the Lions have been very tough against opposing running backs this season after three games in terms of Fantasy production. Murray is not a recommended start at this time.

Tashard Choice – Dallas Cowboys Choice could continue to see more work in Week 4 against the Lions as Jones may have re-injured himself late in the win for the Cowboys on Monday night. That said, Choice has done little this year and the Lions have been very tough against opposing running backs this season after three games in terms of Fantasy production. Keep Choice grounded Week 4, regardless of Jones’ situation.

Kendall Hunter -SanFrancisco 49ers Harbaugh was noncommittal about whether Hunter’s role would increase going forward. Frank Gore admitted Sunday that he played with a banged up ankle against the Bengals, but on Monday Harbaugh said Gore should be good to go for Week 4. Only time will tell. Hunter would likely be the top option to replace Gore if he is ever on the sidelines due to injury. But Hunter remains just a handcuff Fantasy option heading into Sunday’s game against the Eagles.

Montario Hardesty- Cleveland Browns Hardesty’s longest carry went 19 yards and had a few bursts that showed why the Browns wanted him to be their feature back last year before he messed up his knee. The Browns intended to get Hardesty a few more touches in Week 3 even before Hillis was ruled inactive. It’s just that Hillis will probably be back in Week 4 against Tennessee to pace the rushing attack, so Hardesty will remain just a reserve Fantasy option.

Earnest Graham -Tampa Bay Buccaneers Graham seems to be the Bucs’ main back on passing plays as LeGarrette Blount struggles with protection and catching. Graham also garnered two carries, but netted a total of minus-one yard. Consider him a low-end option in PPR Fantasy formats for Week 4 against Indianapolis.

Alfonso Smith – Arizona Cardinals With Wells and LaRod Stephens-Howling banged up, the Cardinals may turn to Smith more down the road. He was definitely more effective than veteran Chester Taylor in Week 3, but that doesn’t mean he’s a must add this week. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on the running situation in Arizona during the week, but keep an eye on Smith.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Denarius Moore – Oakland Raiders Moore followed up his coming out party with four receptions for 34 yards during the Raiders’ 34-24 victory over the Jets in Week 4 on Sunday. He also carried the ball once, on a reverse during the third quarter, and recorded a 23-yard touchdown on the play.

Nate Washington – Tennessee Titans Washington has totaled 191 yards receiving and a touchdown with 15 catches in his last two games and is only going to get more and more looks going forward with Britt officially out for the season.

Jacoby Ford – Oakland Raiders The Raiders have been very successful offensively without Ford, but they have mostly gotten it done on the ground thanks to Darren McFadden. Ford should return to the starting lineup once healthy and be a factor on offense, but leave him out of starting Fantasy lineups until we see how he does coming off the injury.

Donald Jones -Buffalo Bills Jones entered play Sunday with six catches for 27 yards and one touchdown in two games. In fact, he had most of his yards on one reception Week 3. The Bills did have to rally from a 21-0 deficit, so they ended up throwing the ball a lot. If this was a more balanced game, then Jones might not have seen as many targets. He is still a starter for Buffalo,

Dane Sanzenbacher – Chicago Bears Sanzenbacher has been targeted 14 times in the last two games, but more importantly he has five red-zone targets, which ranks eighth in the NFL among WRs. He might continue to have a sizeable role even when Bennett returns, but Sanzenbacher remains a low-end Fantasy WR heading into Week 4 against the Panthers.

TIGHT ENDS

Randy McMichael -San Diego Chargers McMichael will likely go back to a minor contributor once Gates is healthy. But if this foot issue continues to linger for Gates, McMichael would make a nice addition down the road. For now, if he stays in the lineup, McMichael should be viewed as a No. 2 TE option. The Chargers host the Dolphins in Week 4, a team that struggles to stop the pass.

Jermaine Gresham -Cincinatti Bengals Gresham caught four passes for 51 yards in Week 3 against the 49ers. He was targeted eight times, second most on the team.  A rookie QB always relies on their TE take a flyer on him if your playing in deeper leagues.

Ed Dickson- Baltimore Ravens After putting up weak stats last Sunday against the Titans, Dickson was much more involved in the offense in Week 3. His nine targets were the second highest on the team and Flacco appears to be getting more and more comfortable looking his way. Owners should continue consider him a No. 2 Fantasy TE heading into Week 4 against the Jets.

Chris Cooley- Washington Redskins While Fred Davis is all the buzz at TE these days in DC you’ve probably found some owner who has dumped Cooley in the meantime…Good news is Cooley is getting healthier. He played a bigger role in Week 3 game and even picked up his first carry in his career. Cooley rushed twice in the game for 3 yards. He also caught four passes for 41 yards and was targeted five times.

DEFENSE

Buccaneers - Fantasy owners should certainly be encouraging by Tampa’s showing heading into a favorable matchup against Indianapolis in Week 5. Consider the Bucs a No. 2 Fantasy DST versus the Colts.

Saints - The Saints D/ST has some playmakers that can make it a good move to deploy them versus the Jags. The Saints  one of those units that you should start or sit based on the matchups. Lucky for the Saints DST they have an ideal matchup against the Jaguars and rookie QB Blaine Gabbert at Jacksonville in Week 4.
Vikings The Chiefs are certainly bad enough that you could consider the Vikings DST somewhat of a sleeper.

Texans The Texans D/ST took advantage of some nice matchups in Weeks 1 and 2 but had some trouble against the high-scoring Saints offense. So with that being said depending on Matchup take a flier on the New Look Texans Defense.

Fantasy Football – Pickups for Week 9

By Gayle Saunders

QUARTERBACKS

Josh Freeman- Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Freeman completed 18 of 25 passes for 278 yards with a TD in Sunday’s 38-35 win over Arizona. Freeman keeps managing games nicely and limiting his mistakes. Those of you who have him have to be impressed with the young quarterback so far this year he has 1,533 yards and eight touchdowns. Tampa Bay faces Atlanta in Week 9, a team that has been allowing 260.3 yards passing per game. His stock is rising, get him while you can.

Matthew Stafford -Detroit Lions Lions QB Matthew Stafford certainly played pretty dam well in his return. After missing five games, Stafford came right back and threw four touchdown passes against the Redskins with just one interception. Stafford sounds like he has a lot to prove and is going to do all he can to stop the Jets in their tracks on Sunday. However, New York has been improving since Darrelle Revis returned but they have allowed a decent amount of Fantasy points per game to opposing QBs this season. That being said, Aaron Rodgers went 15 of 34 for 170 yards and no touchdowns Week 8. If the Jets can shut down the Packers’ passing game, they should be able to do the same against the Lions. This might not be the week to start but if in need go ahead and deploy for week 9.

Vince Young- Tennessee TitansYoung immediately becomes Fantasy relevant as a No. 1 QB option. Young has averaged 166.3 passing yards over effectively six games with 8.2 yards per pass attempt this season…and thats without Moss. The Titans now have a receiver who can move the chains and be red-zone threat. Moss could allow Young to boost his stats all across the board.

RUNNING BACKS

Legarette Blount- Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Strong, This guy runs with brute force and had a breakout game against Arizona last week. He crried the rock 22 times for 120 yards and two touchdowns. The rook should continue to be the center of Tampa Bay’s rushing attack moving forward. The Bucs’ upcoming ooponents Atlanta, San Francisco and Baltimore, He’ll def be tested but he could still gain solid numbers. Dont worry he is still the main goal-line option.

Danny Woodhead- New EnglandPatriots
The Browns have allowed four running backs to go over 80 yards this season, including Michael Turner, who ran for 140 yards. Woodhead will get plenty of touches in the Pats offense this Sunday, and should def be accounted for on screens and short routes this week. Woodhead should get a start.

Mike Tolbert – San Diego Chargers
Stop the presses Do not drop Tolbert yet! His touchdown streak should have a chance to continue. The Texans are vulnerable in their run defense, and Mathews, Tolbert and Sproles all have the chance to play well. Consider Tolbert as a starting option depending on your scoring system and size of your league. Tolbert can still be a useful option based on his work in the red zone.

Kevin Smith- Detroit Lions
Given that he got just as many carries as Jahvid Best last week and looked good running them, and Best is never the picture of good health, Smith needs to be owned. This issue is certainly worth keeping an eye on, as Smith’s between-the-tackles running style is the perfect change of pace to Jahvid Best’s finesse game and he could see increased touches against the Jets. The Jets are allowing RBs to average 7.0 Fantasy points per week, which is the lowest total in the NFL, however. If Smith manages to get healthy enough to play on Sunday, he will be a low-end Fantasy start in Week 9 for this tough matchup.

Keiland Williams – Washington Redskins
If Ryan Torain isn’t ready go when they come back off of a bye week, Williams is a good handcuff. Williams has again become fantasy relevant. In limited action against the Lions last week, he racked 53 yards and a touchdown on just nine carries. He could earn additional touches if Shanahan desires to preserve Torain post-bye.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Mike Sims Walker – Jacksonville JaguarsSims-Walker scored a touchdown for the third time in his last four weeks for the Jaguars but he had just nine catches in his last three games combined before going for eight on Sunday alone. He was targeted a team-high 10 times by Garrard, who clearly favors Sims-Walker in the passing game. He’s been a bit erratic this season, but Sims-Walker will be worth starting in all Fantasy leagues the next time he takes the field against Houston. Unfortunately for Fantasy owners, that won’t come until Week 10 as the Jaguars are on bye next week.

Steve Johnson – Buffalo Bills
Buffalo WR Steve Johnson has virtually come out of nowhere this season and after eight weeks has been a borderline No. 1 Fantasy wide receiver in terms of total Fantasy points. Johnson has overtaken Lee Evans as Ryan Fitzpatrick’s go-to receiver. Johnson has at least one touchdown catch in five straight games, tied for the most in franchise history. Not coincidentally, the streak began in Week 3, when Fitzpatrick took over the QB job. Johnson has gone for a first down on 22 of his 30 catches this season so he can be called a big-play receiver.

James Jones – Green Bay Packers
Over the past two years, owners have patiently waited for the torch to be passed from the amazingly resilient, yet aging Driver to Jones. With the Packers’ No. 2 hampered by a quad injury, it appears their wishes are about to come true. Reports have surfaced that Mike McCarthy may choose to rest Driver against the hapless Cowboys, especially with Green Bay having a bye in Week 10.

Patrick Crayton-San Diego Chargers
Crayton had 13 receptions for 199 yards in the previous two games before Week 8 but was not targeted nearly as much against the Titans. He has shown from his years in Dallas that he can be a serviceable option in the passing game but he has been too inconsistent to trust in most Fantasy formats up to this point. Crayton has benefited from WRs Malcom Floyd and Buster Davis being injured but has yet to find the end zone. He will face off against Houston and their 32nd ranked pass defense in Week 9 so continue to view Crayton as a No. 3 Fantasy WR.

TIGHT ENDS

Jacob Tamme – Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis TE Jacob Tamme looks to follow up his best outing as a pro against Philadelphia in Week 9. Tamme is coming off a 64 yard performance in Week 8 and his first career touchdown. The Eagles are tough against the pass, but will have to deal with Peyton Manning this week. Tamme will continue to see targets in Indy’s high-powered offense. Philadelphia has allowed 350 yards and four touchdowns to tight ends this year — allowing two 100-yard outings to TE’s
Fantasy owners should view him as a No. 1 TE option for Week 9 against Philly.

Brandon Pettigrew – Detroit Lions
Even when he’s not that involved, he’s got a shot at scoring.
was limited in practice Wednesday as the team prepares for Week 9 vs. N.Y. Jets. Pettigrew had his second touchdown in three games in Week 8 against the Redskins. The Jets have allowed two touchdowns to TEs in seven games this season and are holding them to 4.7 Fantasy points per week, which is tied for fourth lowest in the NFL.
As long as Pettigrew doesn’t suffer a setback with his ankle, then he should take the field in Week 9. However, the matchup isn’t a favorable one.

Tony Moeaki – Kansas City Chiefs
Moeaki played a key role in the Chiefs’ 13-10 overtime win over Buffalo in Week 8. He was shut out during regulation, but he made three catches for 45 yards during overtime, including the receptions of the last two passes thrown during the final scoring drive. Sunday’s performance marked the fifth time in seven games that Moeaki has compiled at least 40 receiving yards. If you need a TE to fill in…he’s your guy.

DEFENSE

Buffalo Bills
The Bills’ pass rush isn’t anything majorly scarey with just 11 sacks on the season…but the Bears’ inability to protect Cutler gives a Bills Defense play hope. The Bills will likely triple their season total (1) in interceptions. Cutler, who has tossed just one touchdown pass in his past three games, has logged at least one pick in four of six starts this year. For probably this week only, Look for the Bills to put up some defensive numbers.

Fantasy Football – Pickups for Week 7

By Gayle Saunders
Follow Him on Twitter

QUARTERBACKS

Kevin Kolb- Philadelphia Eagles
Well its week 7 and good ol Andy Reid has named Kolb his guy for this weeks matchup against the Tennessee Titans… for some reason Kevin Kolb is still available in some fantasy leagues. I made the perfect choice to pick him for a short term lease while Vick was out and he scored big for me last week. Kolb was 23 of 29 passing for 326 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He gets the opportunity to face a Titans defense that ranks 23rd in the NFL against the pass, giving up 231 yards per game. However they have limited opponents to just six touchdown passes in six games. Reid did say when Vick was injured he would return to the starting lineup, but if Kolb keeps putting up big numbers like last week ya never know and Reid is known to change his mind.

Matt Cassel -Kansas City Chiefs
Cassel has put together three consecutive good passing performances. Going into this weeks game against the Jaguars, he’s thrown 102 passes without an INT. Against San Fran, The Colts and the Texans, Cassel was 52 of 85 (61.2 percent) for 607 yards (7.1 yards per attempt), six touchdown passes and one interception. That’s a passer rating of 101.5. Keep in mind that he finished last season with a 69.9 passer rating. Cassel threw three touchdown passes for the second time in three games and looked like stud for Chiefs. They will play the perfect defense to throw on in Week 7, as the Jaguars come to K.C. Cassel should be a definite start if your QB is on a bye week or a starting QB down the road as he has some favorable matchups against the Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders and the Arizona Cardinals and the Denver Broncos in the next 4 weeks.

Matt Hasselbeck- Seatlle Seahawks
Hasselbeck gets the Cardinals this week. QB’s have performed 11.9-percent above the league average when playing Arizona, netting 255.2 yards and 1.8 touchdowns per game. With the Seahawks strengthening the run game with the signing of Marshawn Lynch, defenses have to take notice and are now forced to draw attention away from the pass. Expect Hasselbeck to put up numbers as Mike Williams and Deon Butler are coming into their own, he could post around 240-260 yards with 2-3 touchdowns. Hasselbeck threw for 315 yards in his last matchup with Arizona last season. Remember he is still feeling his way around Pete Carroll’s offense, so Hasselbeck has some work to do but he is worth a look if you are in need this week.

RUNNING BACKS

Danny Woodhead- New EnglandPatriots
Don’t look now but Danny Woodhead is becoming a vital part of the Patriots offense and has made an immediate impact. Woodhead had 63 yards rushing and 5 grabs for 52 receiving in the Patriots’ 23-20 overtime win against Baltimore on Sunday. The Patriots are using Woodhead a lot like they use Wes Welker: A short-yardage target who can make a move and gain some big yards. Don’t forget last week he put up some decent numbers on a good defense like the Ravens, expect him to do the same to the Chargers in Week 7. San Diego’s run defense got worked by Steven Jackson in Week 6 and should be ready to get worked against the Pats who have a better passing game than the Rams which might open up the run game for the Patriots. The other great thing about Woodhead is he is listed as a RB/WR with all the bye weeks he is a perfect fit on your bench or a flex option in the meantime.

Mike Hart – Indianapolis Colts
Last week Hart saw 11 touches and carried the rock for 43 yards in the Week 6 win over the Redskins. He came in after Joseph Addai went down late in the game with a shoulder injury, Hart picked up right where he left off as the Colts racked up 170 yards on the ground against Washington. Backup RB Donald Brown was inactive with a hamstring injury and Hart was able to take advantage of his opportunity . The Colts put the ball in his hands when it counted most, in the fourth quarter. Addai is still the man in the Colts rushing game but depending on the health of Brown or Addai after the bye week, Hart’s value could increase or decrease. You have to check the status of the Colts backfield situation through the bye in Week 7. Hart could have major value if Addai or Brown cannot play Week 8.

Donald Brown- Indianapolis Colts
Indy is on a bye week, but Donald Brown should definitely be acquired. The Colts tend to be a little passive on the Addai injury to his shoulder, but by the looks of the big hit he took on Sunday night, It’s hard to speculate exactly how much time Addai will miss. His chances of suiting up in two weeks against Houston are slim. Brown, bothered by a tender hamstring, hasn’t seen action since Week 3, but should be fully recovered by next week even if healthy Hart could shoulder the load if they decide to go with Hart. So once again…monitor this situation!

James Starks – Green Bay Packers
Packers rookie RB James Starks, who is on the PUP list due to a bad hamstring, As of now he is doing drills in practice as I type. So if the Packers choose to activate him, it could be any day. Green Bay plays Minnesota in Week 7. So far The Packers’ rushing offense has been nothing to get krunk over with Ryan Grant going down with a season-ending injury in Week 1.Starks could provide a much-needed jolt once he is healthy. This isn’t a long shot either as teams were considering him a potential first-round draft pick heading into his senior season at Buffalo the reason he dropped was because he was coming off a major injury. Stash Starks NOW! He could possibly be the next Ryan Grant 2.0.

Chris Ivory – New Orleans Saints
Pierre Thomas is a no show for the fourth week in a row, and he continues to rehab what is believed to be a high-ankle sprain. What happened last week as the Saints gave the rookie the start against Tampa Bay…hmm he only rushed for a career-best 158 yards on 15 carries. Although he has had some fumbling issues and isn’t the biggest threat catching the rock out of the backfield Ivory will get the starting nod in Week 7 against the Browns. The Browns’ run defense hung tough for a while but got ripped by Rashard Mendenhall last week and could be overmatched for their game at New Orleans on Sunday. Up until last week no one had rushed for a score on the Browns, but Mendenhall did and the Steelers racked up over 110 rush yards as a team. Four of the Browns’ six opponents have totaled over 100 rush yards against them and the Saints could make it five of seven with Ivory leading the way. Consider him a solid No. 2 Fantasy RB this week.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Deion Branch-New England Patriots
People thought Brandon Tate would be that guy to fill in for the Moss’ role, however Deion Branch and Tom Brady rekindled their old connection and Branch had nine catches for 98 yards against Baltimore, his most in a regular-season game since his rookie season in New England in 2002. His nine catches in one game equaled what the man he replaced, Randy Moss, had done in New England’s first four games this season. It’s a really good sign that Brady looked for Branch so often in the game, going forward this relationship should grow into decent fantasy numbers. Branch should still find ways to exploit defenses and grab a lot of passes. The Patriots play at San Diego in Week 7, and the Chargers D looked a little suspect at St. Louis. Look for Branch to get busy!

Deon Butler -Seattle Seahawks
Well Deon replaced Deion. Deion Branch that is. In Branch’s absence he had 4 targets which turned into four catches for 47 yds and a touchdown, He’s a good route runner and it looks like he has more upside than Golden Tate at the moment. Butler is filling in nicely for Branch. Butler should continue to start opposite Mike Williams, who also went off for 123 yards on 10 grabs last week. Look for Butler to go in unnoticed which could mean Hasselbeck with be forced look his way. Butler should continue to be owned in Deep Fantasy leagues.

Patrick Crayton-San Diego Chargers
Crayton who had six receptions for 117 yards against the Rams, will likely start Week 7 against the Patriots. WRs Naanee and WR Malcom Floyd other known as the hammy twins are both out with hamstring injuries leaving many opportunities for Crayton. He has showed that he is capable of stepping up. Crayton’s history as a prime-time receiver is pretty non-existent, but if he has to start in the absence of Floyd, then his history won’t matter as long as he is catching passes from Philip Rivers. The Patriots’ young secondary has been burned by receivers in 2010 to the tune of 78 catches for 931 yards and six touchdowns this season.

Buster Davis-San Diego Chargers
Buster Davis was targeted seven times in Week 6 with all the injuries in the Chargers WR corps, and would be a nice sleeper flex option in Week 7 if he can give it a go on Sunday and Floyd and Naanee are indeed out. Look for Davis to compete for targets with Crayton.

Danario Alexander-St. Louis Rams
His statistics last year for Mizzou are outstanding: 113 catches, 1,781 yards and 14 TDs as a senior. His measurables makes him comparable to Calvin Johnson: 6’5”, 215 pounds, 4.46 40-yard-dash and an outstanding vertical leap. He has excellent playmaking ability and his size should make him a red-zone target. He quickly became Bradford’s favorite target, as he caught four passes for 78 yards and a touchdown against San Diego. Last year mind you, he averaged 9 catches 130 yds and a touchdown a game for Missouri. He should be on you watch list or on your bench. I would recommend waiting one more week before using him, unless you have no other options.

Jason Avant- Philadelphia Eagles
Avant will step into the starting lineup in Week 7 against the Titans with Desean Jackson (concussion) out of action. Avant had a season-high 62 yards in Week 6 against the Falcons after he had to replace Jackson. Avant is expected to start this week and most likely next week as well. Defensively, the Titans overwhelmed Jacksonville on Monday night, holding all Jags receivers under 90 yards. But the pass-happy Eagles are a more difficult task. Kolb is playing lights out averaging 289.5 yards per game with a 4:1 TD:INT split over the past two weeks. Tennessee has allowed the fifth-most yards to WRs this year. Avant is a decent flex play this week. Especially if the Titans pay heavy attention to Jeremy Maclin.

Anthony Gonzalez/Blair White- Indianapolis Colts -
The Colts confirmed reports that Austin Collie underwent surgery on his hand this week. The team is giving no timetable for Collie’s return. The latest information available suggests fantasy’s No. 1 receiver will miss “several games, and likely more. The Colts are prepping Anthony Gonzalez for a return to the third receiver role, with Blair White continuing as a fantasy after thought in the No. 4 role. Collie should be stashed for the fantasy playoffs

TIGHT ENDS

Tony Moeaki – Kansas City Chiefs
He continues to be the receiver that QB Matt Cassel looks for more often than any of his other targets. In five games this season, Moeaki has been the target for Cassel’s passes 26 times. He’s caught 18 of those passes for 194 yards. Moeaki has two touchdowns on the season and the Week 6 game was his lowest pass-catching total of the season. He hadn’t gone for that few yards since Week 1 against the Chargers in his first game as a professional. Moeaki has definitely emerged as a top Fantasy TE, unfortunately, the Chiefs are not a passing team. They saw the ability to run all over Houston in Week 6 and that is exactly what they chose to do. K.C. faces the Jaguars at home in Week 7 and Jacksonville is even worse against the pass than was Houston.

Benjamin Watson- Cleveland Browns
Watson will face off against a Saints defense that hasn’t allowed a touchdown to an opposing tight end in three weeks. However, Watson appears to be the safest and biggest target for rookie QB Colt McCoy to throw to. Watson leads the Browns with 29 catches for 318 yards and a pair of receiving touchdowns, and in a week where owners are scrambling for tight end help, he could be a No. 1 option. We’d trust Watson to deliver some good totals on Sunday against the Saints. He has managed at least four catches in five straight games

Jacob Tamme – Indianapolis Colts
Dallas Clark is out for the year with a wrist injury…and backup tight end JacobTamme has Peyton Manning throwing him the ball. That right there should be enough reason for you to pick him up. NUFF SAID!

DEFENSE

Seatlle Seahawks
Its been known that the Seahawks D has Incredible home muscles and they play like the Hulk at home. Qwest Field is ridiculously loud and one of the most difficult stadiums to play in, let alone if you’re a rookie quarterback named Max Hall. He has surprisingly performed decent in his first couple of starts, but playing in Seattle could be different. The Seahawks, have the the top-rated DEF/ST in fantasy and have have totaled 14 sacks and forced six turnovers in their past three games. Look for defensive coordinator Gus Bradley to dial up the blitz early and often, you know what they say pressure bust pipes! Look for the Seahawks to be a top-five D this week.

QUARTERBACKS

Josh Freeman -Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Freeman played solid last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, and went 20-for-33 for 280 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also added rushed three times for 20 yds. He has put up double digit fantasy points in three out of four games this season, his ability to break off some runs gives him some fantasy potential. Even though Tampa Bay will not be a high-flying offense, Freeman does have some nice weapons to choose from in TE Kellen Winslow, WR Mike Williams and a decent running back group. His upcoming schedule includes New Orleans, St. Louis, Arizona is also somewhat favorable. He’s wortha spot as your QB2 and he has already had his bye week.

Jason Campbell -Oakland Raiders
Campbell did a nice job last week replacing an injured Bruce Gradkowski against the Chargers, He went 13-for-18 for 159 yards and a TD. If Gradkowski is unable to start in Week 6 against the 49ers (A defense that has allowed 25 or more points in all but one game) Campbell could be a nice play if your in need. If Gradkowski is out for a longer period, Campbell would have a nice matchup against the Broncos in Week 7. Make sure you keep an eye on Gradkowski’s status.

Ryan Fitzpatrick – Buffalo Bills
Believe it or not Fitzpatrick has played decent the past few weeks and he has def held his own. Fitzpatrick had a solid day last week throwing for 220 yards and 3 TDs. Please make note that the Bills are going to be playing from behind all year, which makes their passing attack a sexy look for garbage stats and more chances for decent fantasy numbers.

Shaun Hill – Detroit Lions
If you still haven’t took a flyer on Hill you sure as hell missed out last week as he threw for 227 passing yards and 3 TDs, but please be aware that Stafford is almost back, but in the meantime he is worthy of start! Keep an eye on Staffords process as you never know if the the injury will effect him down the stretch of the season. Hill should always be a decent option if Stafford gets hurt again.

RUNNING BACKS

Willis McGahee – Baltimore Ravens
Not only has McGahee scored in two straight games (with 106 total rush yards), but he’s also scored on the Patriots, his Week 6 opponent, in each of his last three meetings against them. That includes scoring a rushing touchdown and adding 75 total yards in a playoff meeting against the Pats last January and contributing 24 total yards with a receiving score in a regular-season meeting at New England last October. The Patriots rank 19th vs. the run through five weeks.

Felix Jones – Dallas Cowboys
There has been a lot of frustration in the fantasy community over the very slow start of Jones. He has been dropped in more than a few leagues out there and is immediately available for pick-up. Felix Jones had his first 100-yard rushing game of his career in the regular season in Week 5 against the Titans. Jones gashed Tennessee on ground, racking up 109 yards on just 15 carries. He averaged a whopping 7.3 yards per attempt and had a long on 34 yards. Jones also caught four passes for 17 yards in the 34-27 loss, but did not score a touchdown. He finished with a combined 19 touches for 126 yards. Fantasy owners should check back for updates over the course of the week to see how the Cowboys plan to use both players in Week 6 against the Vikings. For now, consider Jones a No. 4 Fantasy RB heading at Minnesota, but that could change if he is named the starter.

Brandon Jacobs -New York Giants
Jacobs scored for the second straight game in Week 5, as he has taken advantage of Ahmad Bradshaw being a little banged up to take a role in the Giants’ backfield. He has seen an increased role over the last two weeks with 16 carries after having just eight carries over the previous two weeks, which likely led to him being dropped in a lot of leagues. Now that Jacobs seems to be accepting his role as a backup RB, he seems to be working harder and looking a lot fresher when he comes into games. Clearly, it’s going to be a stretch for him to see a ton of carries every week as long as Bradshaw is healthy. However, the fact he is becoming a touchdown vulture still makes him relevant in Fantasy. Look to him as a low-end No. 2/high-end No. 3 Fantasy RB for Week 6 against the Lions.

Mike Hart -Indianapolis Colts
Addai was knocked out of the game and Hart showed he has some game in his small frame. He finished the day with 11 carries for 50 yards and a TD. He also grabbed one reception for five yards. Hart would be a good addition in all leagues if Addai and Brown are out against the Redskins. Washington just allowed its first 100-yard rusher of the season in Brandon Jackson, but the Colts rely on their running backs to catch the ball as well. Consider him a solid pickup off the waiver wire heading into Week 6.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Danny Amendola -St. Louis Rams
With WR Mark Clayton leaving early in Week 5 against the Lions with a season-ending torn right patella tendon, Danny Amendola stepped his game up and became the key target for QB Sam Bradford. Amendola grabbed a season-high 12 catches for 95 yards against Detroit, and he will probably get more looks in Week 6, as the Rams host the Chargers. However, San Diego has been the second-toughest matchup in the league for wide receivers, as they have limited opposing WRs to just 9.4 Fantasy points per game. Also, while Amendola now ranks seventh among all wide receivers in targets and tied for fourth in receptions, he is the only wide receiver among the top 15 in receptions with a yards per reception average below 10.0.

Mike Williams -Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay hosts the Saints in Week 6 as Williams is coming off his best game of the season. The rookie scored his third touchdown in Week 5 at Cincinnati and added seven receptions for 99 yards, both career highs. If healthy, Williams will be facing the No. 1 toughest defense against opposing wide receivers, however. New Orleans is allowing fewer than seven receptions per game to opposing wideouts for an average of 82 yards for the entire unit. He’s been limited in practice this week with a foot injury. So make sure you check his status moving forward to Sunday.

Mike Thomas -Jacksonville Jaguars
Thomas had four grabs for 53 yards along with four rushing attempts for 51 yards against the Buffalo Bills in Week 5. He now has at least four receptions in but one game this year, as well as at least 43 receiving yards in four out of five games. Thomas has been targeted a team-high 32 times over the first five games of the season and has 21 receptions for 258 yards, but has yet to find the end zone. Jacksonville has a run-oriented offense and quarterback David Garrard is fairly inconsistent so far this season, but Thomas seems to be a reliable target and could be usable as a bye week replacement in Week 7 against a Tennessee Titans’ defense that has struggled against the pass over the last few weeks.

Steve Johnson -Buffalo Bills
Johnson had five catches for 46 yards and two touchdowns in Week 5 against the Jaguars, which gives him four touchdowns over the last three games. He seems to have good chemistry with QB Fitpatrick, and there’s no reason to think that can’t continue after the Bills’ bye in Week 6. In Week 7 they face a very tough Ravens defense. Fantasy owners should not expect him to be of much use for the next two weeks, but he clearly has some potential to be helpful as long as Fitzpatrick is at QB for Buffalo. The former Kentucky wideout is capitalizing on the opportunity left for him by the departure of Terrell Owens.

Lee Evans – Buffalo Bills
Evans used to be a solid fantasy WR #2, but he has slipped a little in recent years. On Sunday, he flashed some of the speed that put him on the fantasy radar and pulled in 5 receptions for 87 yards and a TD. He did seem to show a little chemistry with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, and you know the Bills will be playing from behind and forced to throw the ball all year long.

Robert Meachem – New Orleans Saints
Meachem made his presence known on Sunday with 4 receptions for 72 yards and a TD. Can he be trusted with these numbers to happen down the road? He’s a Saints receiver enough said!!! Meachem was valuable last year for many teams out there playing in deep leagues but it has taken him until week 5 in 2010 so with that being said If your in need he’s worth a shot.

TIGHT ENDS

Jeremy Shockey -New Orleans Saints
Shockey pulled in three receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown against the Cardinals in Week 5, In the last three games this gives him 17 catches for 166 yards and two touchdowns. Since Bush has been gone his production has been on the rise. As long as he can remain healthy, Shockey is worth adding as a TE2 and is a solid fill-in (while Bush is out)

Marcedes Lewis – Jacksonville Jaguars
Just when you think Lewis has cooled off as a worthy fantasy TE, he has another 2 TD game. Five TDs in five games means you toss him in the line-up each week and take the good with the bad. Lewis only has 16 receptions for 192 yards on the season, but has five receiving touchdowns and is currently the fourth highest scoring Fantasy TE. Jacksonville is a bit conservative in their passing passing game, which limits a lot of big plays. Instead of taking shots down the field, Garrard prefers to make safe high-percentage passes. While Lewis isn’t racking up a ton of receptions and yards, he continues to be the primary target for Garrard in the red zone and can be considered a high-end No. 2 Fantasy TE heading into Week 6.

KICKERS

Jason Hanson – Detroit Lions
Hanson had a busy day last week as the Lions blasted the Rams, 44-6, in Week 5. He converted each of his five extra-point attempts, and added three field goals. As the Lions’ offense keeps moving the ball well, Hanson will have more opportunities. Week 6 is against the New York Giants, who have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing kickers (8.8 per game). So if your regular kicker has a particularly stifling matchup or you need a bye week replacement Hanson is worthy of a spot as your starting kicker.

Robbie Gould – Chicago Bears
Gould has converted 10 of his 11 field-goal opportunities through five weeks and also hit all eight of his extra-point attempts. With Seattle up next for the Bears, Gould is still one of the best kickers in the league, although he hasn’t had many chances to produce this season. Things could look good for Gould down the road as the Bears offense gets more comfortable with Martz’s system. They should have even better success moving the ball and putting Gould in position to make kicks.

Fantasy Football – Week 4 Pick Ups

Quarterbacks:

Bruce Gradkowski - Oakland RaidersBruce Gradkowski – Raiders
Bruce took the helm last week at QB last week in Arizona, he pulled in 255 yards and a touchdown. His knowledge of the system helps tremendously. Gradkowski has the ability to scramble as well which makes the veteran worth a look. This week he gets the Houston Texans whose secondary has been ripped for 381 passing yards per game and six touchdowns, Look for decent numbers in Week 4. Right now Bruce & WR Louis Murphy have great which could equal good numbers perhaps over 300 yds passing and 2-3 touchdowns. If you own Tony Romo you should look no further.

Sam Bradford - St. Louis RamsSam Bradford – St. Louis Rams
If I must say, I’m impressed with this young kid, so much so, I picked him up myself this weekend. Right now he is doing fairly well for a rookie and through three games, he’s completing 59 percent of his attempts while averaging 218.3 yards and 1.2 touchdowns per game. His connection with freshly signed Mark Clayton is one to take notice of. Right now he has the confidence of his team and coach which will help when they face Seattle this week. Seattle’s secondary has allowed four touchdowns and 329 passing yards per game to passers. In week 5 the rams get the Lions and if you look down the road they have many favorable matchups on the schedule.

Mark Sanchez - New York JetsMark Sanchez – New York
People are on the Sanchez bandwagon right now…rightfully so after his 7.6% TD/Att mark ranks second in the NFL behind only Tom Brady. If you look at Sanchez’s 2009 mark in this dept. it was 3.3%. How’s that for improvement? Sanchez has yet to throw an interception, which shows he’s being smarter with the football. As it stands right now Sanchez is out performing the artist formally known as Mark Sanchez 2009. He’s a better quarterback and leader now than he was during his rookie year for sure. Don’t forget he has the run game to lean on, which is also a nice security blanket. As long as his relationship with TE keeps booming things look good for Sanchez and his fantasy stats.

Ryan Fitzpatrick - Buffalo BillsRyan Fitzpatrick – Buffalo
As I said last week take a look at Fitzpatrick not bad for his first start. Fitzpatrick was balls to the wall in his first game and the Bills almost pulled an upset. What followed after that was the Bills decided to cut former starter Trent Edwards. Its going to be a tough ride for Ryan, but someone has to do it. Fitzpatrick still has to run a poor offense and doesn’t really have the big weapons to throw to. As of right now the Bills look comfortable with their running back by committee, which could mean fewer point-scoring opportunities for Fitzpatrick.

Charlie Batch - Pittsburgh SteelersBen Roethlisberger - Pittsburgh SteelersCharlie Batch / Ben Roethlisberger – Pittsburgh
Somebody must have told Charlie he should be a full time starter before the game because he sure as hell played like one last weekend. Batch’s 3 touchdown performance in Sunday’s game could be deceiving. When we look at the numbers he only threw 17 passes and 3 of those passes went for touchdowns. It would pretty unfair of us to expect this week in and week out from Batch. Just a side note he was also intercepted twice, but did some yards with his scrambling he rushed 5 times for 26 yards. Batch gets a shot to start one more time for the Steelers, If you need him for this week, let him be there for you just for this week. Big Ben Roethlisberger has only one game remaining on his 4 game suspension. If he’s sitting their for the taking, go get him ASAP, if your in need!.

Running Backs:

Peyton Hillis - Cleveland BrownsPeyton Hillis – Cleveland
If its one guy you should have picked up already, its Peyton Hillis. I’m betting right now he is probably owned in your league, but, if not, and your playing with some sorry saps be sure to scoop him up today. Hillis had a huge game last week against a tough Ravens defense. He put in work racking up 144 yds which should now solidify him as thee guy for the Browns. You have to assume Jerome Harrison will steal some carries once he is back and healthy. Just remember that Hillis gets used a lot on 3rd downs too, and is a threat for catching the rock out of the backfield, which makes him still valuable down the road if Harrison challenges for starts.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis - New England PatriotsDanny Woodhead - New England PatriotsBenJarvus Green-Ellis / Danny Woodhead – New England
Just when you thought The Wutang of RB’s have finally been dismantled enter Danny Woodhead and BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Last weekend both these guys made their presence known against Buffalo. They combined for 19 carries, 140 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Fred Taylor was out with an injury and Green-Ellis seized the moment and led the Patriots in carries for the second game in a row. Newly signed Woodhead had only 3 carries, but made the highlight reels with a 22 yard touchdown run. Green-Ellis is probably the most likely out of the two worth a bench spot until further notice, but if your in a deep league Woodhead deserves a look.

LeGarrette Blount - Tampa Bay BuccaneersLeGarrette Blount – Tampa Bay
In his game with the Buccaneers, LeGarrette Blount had six carries for 27 yards but he added one touchdown. Cadillac Williams continued to disappoint with 13 yards on six carries. On the season Williams has 55 attempts for 139 yards, which leaves him with 2.5 yards an attempt. Blount looks ready to surpass Earnest Graham as a real deal backup to Williams. Early this season everyone was high on Kareem Huggins to replace Williams if he got hurt or was ineffective. Only problem is Huggins has been bothered by injury and was inactive for the game against the Steelers. Enter Blount…who was able to be effective in his six carries, and looks like he is ready for an opportunity at a chance to be the man be hind the man…or most likely THE MAN.

Kenneth Darby - St. Louis RamsKenneth Darby – St. Louis
If Steven Jackson ends up healthy enough to play in week 4, a darby pick up makes no sense. You will def have to watch the status on Jackson and plug and play Darby once you know. If Jackson is out for some time, he is worth checking out.  Between both back ups last week they combined for 26 touches. However Darby did manage to get in the end zone. If your desperate for a Flex play this week, Darby still could get some burn if Jackson is still banged up.

Ryan Torain - Washington RedskinsRyan Torain – Washington
Ryan Torain had 7 carries and 46 yards on Sunday, meanwhile everybody thought Keiland Williams was the guy behind Portis but he had zero carries and only 4 targets. Remember Torain is an old Bronco guy and you have to know that Shanahan favors the kid. From the looks of it, Torain seems ready to be second string back behind Portis. Torain is worth a bench spot in deeper leagues. Since Larry Johnson got cut and Clinton Portis’ wrist injury people jumped on the Keiland Williams bandwagon. Torain could earn regular touches moving forward, especially with Portis averaging 3.7 yards per carry. With the Eagles giving up the 2nd most fantasy points to running backs…he could be an option.

Laurence Maroney - Denver BroncosLaurence Maroney – Denver
With Knowshon Moreno out, Laurence Maroney led the Broncos in carries and touches in week 3. Correll Buckhalter was still active and had (7 targets, 4 carries), Maroney led with 3 targets and 12 carries. The Denver Post’s Lindsay Jones expects Laurence Maroney to start and handle early-down work against the Titans this week.Correll Buckhalter is expected to be used on third downs and in “special packages,” but Maroney will lead the backfield in touches. Underwhelming as a runner last week, Maroney is a mere RB2/flex option against Tennessee’s No. 17 run defense

Maurice Morris - Detroit LionsMaurice Morris – Detroit
Morris had six carries for five yards and caught five passes for 36 yards in Sunday’s loss at Minnesota. Morris saw more work than normal because rookie Jahvid Best left the game in the third quarter with a toe injury. Morris saw a lot of passes out of the backfield (he was targeted seven times) and is a player that Fantasy owners may want to take a flier on off the waiver wire early in Week 4 because he’d be in line for the majority of touches in Week 4 at Green Bay if Best can’t go. I don’t think it’s a great matchup, but Morris could have some appeal in larger leagues as a bye-week replacement.

Michael Bush - Oakland RaidersMichael Bush – Oakland
Bush returned to the lineup Sunday and, as expected, played a back up role to Darren McFadden. Bush carried it only 3 times, but it’s worth noting that he did see a goal line carry. It’s amazing how fast the tables have turned in Oakland. For most of the preseason, Bush was being touted as the breakout star while McFadden was injured. Then, Bush went down with an injury right before the season and McFadden has since stolen the show. Oakland has said that it needs both backs to be successful, but its clear they keep feeding the rock to McFadden especially when he’s running hard these days. Bush is still worth holding onto in Fantasy, but is nothing more than a flex option for Week 4.

John Kuhn - Green Bay PackersJohn Kuhn – Green Bay Packers
Brandon Jackson is not really playing like he wants to be the man out in Green Bay, which leaves room for sleeper Kuhn, a FB hybrid think of him as Peyton Hillis lite, he’s averaged 4.5 yards per carry over that same stretch. Fantasy owners have to expect a bigger role this week against the Lions. Detroit has allowed 5.2 yards per carry, 208.3 total yards per game and seven scores to RBs. For bye week purposes Kuhn is a good option to plug in this week.

Wide Receivers:

Brandon Lloyd - Denver BroncosBrandon Lloyd – Denver Broncos
Lloyd produced like an elite receiver in Week 3, rolling up the fifth-highest Fantasy point total among all WRs for the week. However, the Broncos have several receivers sharing the load, so it will probably be unusual for the same receiver to have a big performance week after week. Last week Lloyd grabbed six passes for 169 yards and a long touchdown. Averaging a 24.2 yards per catch, Lloyd has become Kyle Orton’s deep threat option. Fantasy owners should consider him a solid No. 3 Fantasy WR heading into Sunday.

Lance Moore - New Orleans SaintsLance Moore – New Orleans
Moore was a hot waiver wire pickup heading into Week 4, and those who remember his flashes of brilliance in 2008 should be licking their chops at the fact Moore will be going against a Carolina team on Sunday that has given up six passing touchdowns in the first three games of 2010. Yes, the Saints have a ton of weapons and Moore will likely have up-and-down stats from week to week as a result, but the fifth-year guy seems to be healthy again after a injury-plagued 2009 season and with this favorable matchup should be started as a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR or flex option. You have to consider that Moore didn’t play much and went without one target in week 2. He’s worth a bench spot, but if you need help at WR its worth the risk.

Earl Bennett - Chicago BearsEarl Bennett – Chicago
Bennett was inactive for Week 1 but has caught eight passes for 50 yards over the past two weeks. He appears to have the upper hand on WR Devin Aromashodu and should see some decent playing time down the line out of the slot. He and Cutler know each other from their days at Vanderbilt and seem to have a growing rapport. But until Bennett starts producing on a larger scale, Fantasy owners keep a close eye on him he could start producing.

Brian Hartline - Miami DolphinsDavone Bess - Miami DolphinsBrian Hartline / Davone Bess – Miami
Marshall is clearly the go-to guy in the Dolphins offense, but with him constantly facing double coverage, Hartline could emerge as a home-run threat. Based on the play calling Sunday, the Dolphins seem to like him in that role. The 23-year-old doesn’t have much experience and will need a few more games like Sunday’s to emerge as a worthwhile Fantasy option, but he’s certainly worth watching when the Dolphins host the Patriots in Week 4. Bess showed a willingness to sacrifice his body on Sunday, making more than one leaping grab that resulted in him landing on his back. He had six catches for 86 yards against the Jets in Week 3, bouncing back from a one-catch, 12-yard performance at Minnesota in Week 2. He has always been a good possession receiver but has gotten pushed down the depth chart with the acquisition of Brandon Marshall. Dolphins QB Chad Henne threw for a career-high 363 yards in this game, so you can’t count on Bess to put up these numbers every week, but he clearly isn’t going to disappear in the offense.

Joshua Cribbs - Cleveland BrownsJosh Cribbs – Cleveland
Josh Cribbs has been pretty good on offense so far this season, catching 10 passes for a team-high 143 yards with a touchdown and 32 rush yards on six tries. He even has a 9-yard pass to his credit. But even if he continues to be the Browns’ most productive WR, head coach Eric Mangini said that his reps as a kickoff or punt returner will not be scaled back. Cribbs will face the Bengals in Week 4, a team ranked 13th against the pass. “If he needs a breather, he can get it on offense,” Mangini said Wednesday. Cribbs was limited in practice with an ankle injury but he’s expected to play on Sunday.

Darrius Heyward-Bey - Oakland RaidersDarrius Heyward-Bey – Oakland
Believe it or not but Heyward-Bey is 20th in the NFL in targets. We saw in Week 3 just how bad Oakland wants to get Heyward-Bey the football. He was targeted 11 times. Only problem is he had just three receptions. Heyward-Bey has been targeted more times (26) than teammate Louis Murphy (23), but Murphy has better numbers across the board. Heyward-Bey is still a wait-and-see project for the Raiders. He is worth stashing in larger Fantasy formats, but only start him as a potential sleeper as a bye-week Fantasy replacement for Week 4.

Golden Tate - Seattle SeahawksGolden Tate – Seattle
Tate has made some waves in the Seahawks’ return game for sure, and has started to get more and more snaps in the Seattle offense as this season has progressed. The only major concern is getting looks with Mike Williams, Deion Branch, Deon Butler and John Carlson to compete with its kind of tough However the Seahawks will face a Rams defense in Week 4 that has allowed wide receivers to average 16.5 yards a catch this season, the second highest total in the league. Tate is certainly worth stashing away in deeper formats just in case he does become the go-to option for QB Matt Hasselbeck down the road.

Arrelious Benn - Tampa Bay BuccaneersArrelious Benn – Tampa Bay
Don’t be surprised to see more playing time in Week 5 for rookie WR Arrelious Benn, a second-round pick. Benn has played little so far but he did have three catches for 33 yards on Sunday. It’s possible that Benn could start as the Z receiver and rookie Mike Williams at the X.

Blair White - Indianapolis ColtsBlair White – Indianapolis
White was on the field for 42 plays on Sunday in Week 3 against the Broncos and caught three passes for 27 yards and a TD. White would be a decent fill-in for Garcon and Gonzalez, and it appears like he will remain in the mix for the Colts. He’s worth adding in deeper leagues since anyone who catches passes from Peyton Manning has increased value. Remember, it was just a year ago that Garcon and Austin Collie came out of nowhere for the Colts to become quality Fantasy options.

Tight Ends:

Aaron Hernandez - New England PatriotsAaron Hernandez – New England
Aaron Hernandez has hauled in 13 of his 15 targets thus far for 211 yards. He is clearly going to be a favorite target of Brady going forward. Hernandez has hit the ground running in New England as a rookie and has had his share of big plays, as his 16.2-yard average leads all Patriots with more than one reception. He looks to add onto those totals in Week 4 against the Dolphins. Miami is allowing TEs to average 10 Fantasy points per week, which is tied for third highest in the NFL. Miami allowed Jets TE Dustin Keller to score twice in Week 3.

Jeremy Shockey - New Orleans SaintsJeremy Shockey – New Orleans
After two terrible games to open the season, Shockey went off for seven catches, 78 yards and a touchdown in a Week 3 loss to the Falcons. The Saints will continue to throw the rock, but to who is the only question. With the way QB Drew Brees spreads the ball around, Shockey is going to continue to have a roller-coaster season in 2010, so view him as a No. 2 Fantasy TE for the time being.

Seattle Seahawks Defense/Special Teams
Leon Washington’s amazing runbacks and the Seahawks D ability to get turnovers has Seattle into the position’s top-five. Another big turnout could put them on map this week. Rookie Sam Bradford and the Rams overall are improved at offense. However, pass protection is still a concern. The rookie quarterback has been sacked six times. Defensive end Chris Clemons, who has recorded two sacks in three games, could get busy. Don’t get it twisted, Seattle will give up the yards vertically, but with all the turnover, sack, and return TD possibilities, you cant pass them up.

Week 3 Pickups

Josh Freeman – Buccaneers Believe it or not Freeman has been a top-10 quarterback each of the first two weeks and is also tied for sixth-best on the season, Freeman has four TDs . He’ll face the Steelers in Week 3, and then he’ll be on a bye. You might be ready to play him after that.

Kyle Orton – Denver Orton has produced for the Broncos and for fantasy owners in 2010. Orton’s targets are Eddie Royal, Demaryius Thomas, Jabar Gaffney, and Daniel Graham. There is some potential in that group, especially with Thomas back and healthy. .

Alex Smith – San Francisco Smith has some nice weapons to play with in San Francisco, which always make him worth a start depending on the opponent. Right now he’s struggled to get Crabtree in the mix…once they get their chemistry back things could get brighter.

Mark Sanchez – New York Jets Sanchez got busy in the 2nd half against the Patriots. He had 3 passing touchdowns. You have to remember that the Jets will continue run the rock with Greene and Tomlinson, which doesn’t mean huge numbers in the passing game but he has his good days ahead of him as Dustin Keller has come alive.

Bruce Gradkowski – Raiders Bruce gets the nod. either way you can expect a gutsy performance. Keep a watch on him, he could provide a spark plug for the passing game in Oakland. But don’t plan on relying on Gradkowski as your savior.

Jimmy Clausen – Carolina Clausen is a shaky start, but if you need someone to fill in he’s worth putting in. The Panthers tote the rock heavy and will rely on the run game more than Clausen’s shoulders.

Ryan Fitzpatrick – Buffalo Fitzpatrick has been named the starter in Buffalo, Its tough to see a huge upside for the Buffalo offense. But Ryan is 5-4 as a starter that is the only positive I have for you. The Bills offensive line is really suspect and their big receiving threat is Lee Evans. (I’ve been waiting years for him to produce for fantasy) No Bueno!

RB’s

Thomas Jones – Kansas City Todd Haley continues to rely heavy on the savvy vet Thomas Jones. Jamaal Charles is always a threat to steal carries or some how take his position. Charles is the more explosive option, but Thomas Jones is getting more touches case and point.

Marshawn Lynch – Buffalo Lynch got allot of love and was used heavily on Sunday, but will still has Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller to deal with going forward. He might be worth a bench spot depending on your situation and desperate need.

Donald Brown – Indianapolis Brown got a nice amount of touches on Sunday. He touched the ball 17 times against the G-men and brought in a score. Brown is def worth a bench spot on your roster.

Michael Bush – Oakland Problem is Darren McFadden has been doing his thing this season, where does that leave Michael Bush. Bush is no longer a starting option however he should steal touches from McFadden down the road.

Jason Snelling – Atlanta Snelling had a tremendous game filling in for Turner and Norwood. The Falcons will rely on the run as much as possible, Michael Turner pays the light bill, but Snelling will get his “shine on” from time to time. Turner’s groin is back to normal so they say but keep Snelling on your bench in the time being.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis – New England Patriots did have the Wutang of Running backs however, Maroney and Faulk are now gone…that’s right gone! So between Fred Taylor & Sammie Morris look for Green-Ellis to get some carries in there. Bill Belichick will rely on no feature back, which scares us all!

Mike Tolbert – Chargers if you own Ryan Mathews Tolbert should be looked at. He had a good game in his opener against the Chiefs, he had two carries for 26 yards. Mathews left with an injury and Tolbert got 95 total yards and two scores. Important fact is Tolbert got his first score while Mathews was still in the game. Looks like you can add “vulture” to Tolberts resume. He is a must-grab for any Mathews owner.

John Kuhn – Green Bay Brandon Jackson didn’t quite impress like we thought he would as a starter, Which allowed Kuhn to steal some carries. Kuhn could likely see 5-8 carries a game. Kuhn is an option if you are desperate.

Rashad Jennings – Jacksonville Maurice Jones-Drew didn’t play the whole game, which opened up a window for Jennings to get some stats. Jones-Drew will lock on to the starter position as the main feature. Jennings is worthy to hold a spot on your bench, nothing more nothing less. Maurice Jones-Drew goes down he’s your guy!

Chris Ivory /DeShawn Wynn– New Orleans
Reggie Bush is probably out up to 4-6 weeks, DeShawn Wynn or Chris Ivory will be happy to take some snaps from Thomas. Ivory is still nursing an injury so Wynn looks like he has a slight advantage. If healthy Ivory is my pick though.

WR’s

Devin Hester – Chicago Many people let Hester go after week 1, It might be time to go scoop him back up! He rebounded nicely in week 2 and is worthy of starting position, especially since Devin Aromashodu got the bench. Jay Cutler has out performed himself this season and with the numbers up as well as attempt he’s bound to get in the mix. Knox is considered thee guy in from the WR corp. If you cant get him your next best target is Hester.

Demaryius Thomas – Denver Thomas was out week 1 due to injury. He made his NFL debut last week and he had an impressive 8 grabs with 97 yards and a TD. Denver has a need for a big wide receiver, and Thomas is that guy!

Louis Murphy – Raiders With Gradkowski in the mix he could be targeted early and often. Last week Murphy had 6 catches for 91 yards and a score. He was the No. 1 receiver for the Raiders this past Sunday. Raiders next 3 opponents are Arizona, Houston and San Diego expect them to try and air it out.

Kevin Walter – Texans You cant ignore that he now has scores in both games this season. His stat line in the comeback against the Redskins were 11 receptions and 144 yards. With Owen Daniels not completely healthy they look to involve Walter a bit more.

TE’s

Dustin Keller – New York Jets In week 1 Keller was a no show stats wise. However Keller pulled in 7 receptions, 115 yards, and a touchdown PLUS 9 targets in week 2. Look for Mark Sanchez’s to favor Keller down the stretch. Even though the Jets are run heavy, Keller could still be productive.

Marcedes Lewis – Jacksonville In week 1 Lewis had 2 targets BUT they were both for touchdowns. In week 2 he pulled in 5 receptions and 70 yards with 9 targets however he did not score. If your in need grab him up now..but if you can wait make sure you keep your eye on him this week and act fast…that’s if he is still there by then.

Tony Moeaki – Kansas City Moeaki has a whopping 14 targets and a score in 2 games which has put him on the fantasy map. Look for Matt Cassel to rely on him in the passing game. The kid has upside, and could possibly be the teams second leading receiver behind Bowe

Aaron Hernandez – New England Hernandez had 6 grabs for 101 yards against the Jets, In week 1 he was targeted only twice. But for a rookie you have to admit he’s off to a good start, he has to compete with the like of Moss & Welker and fellow rookie TE Rob Gronkowski. Keep your eye on his production, It looks like Brady’s confidence is already there with the youngster.

Brandon Pettigrew – Detroit Against the Eagles Pettigrew pulled in 7 receptions and 108 yds with 8 targets. Pettigrew is definitely talented but you have to remember Tony Sheffler is still hanging around as well. Either way you look at it, he’s worthy of keeping your eye on for the next couple of weeks until he shows us that he can be consistent.

Week 2 Pickups
If your fantasy quarterbacks happens to be Kevin Kolb (concussion) or Matthew Stafford (shoulder),  Look no further than Michael Vick , Matt Hasselbeck or David Garrard they could all serve as a replacements this week.

Eagles – Michael Vick showcased some speed and arm strength in Week 1,  Vick created a QB controversy with his stellar play against a tough Green Bay defense he threw some darts which were on target and made many plays with his legs. Vick completed 16 of 24 pass attempts for 175 yards and a touchdown and chipped in an additional 103 rushing yards on 11 carries. With Kolb still suffering a concussion look for Vick to regain form against the Lions.

Seahawks – Matt Hasselbeck played decent  in Week 1, he completed 18 of 23 passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns. He scored a TD on a short run. Hasselbeck has new a wideout in Mike Williams and reliable tight end John Carlson. Next up for Hasselbeck: the Denver Broncos, who gave up 170 yards and 3 touchdowns to David Garrard (and a whopping 76% completion percentage). Hasselbeck looks like a solid start for week 2.
