Drew Brees: Beast of the Week (Week 1)

Any time you tie a franchise record for touchdown passes you are probably going to be called a Beast! Drew Brees tied Billy Kilmer for the record with 6 Touchdown passes as the Saints rolled the Detroit Lions. Brees went 26-34 for 358 yards and 6 TD’s and finished the game with a passer rating of 113.7. Talking to a former NFL player during the game he told me that if Brees keeps this up he will definitely be MVP of the league and we don’t disagree.

Every week the Editors will bang heads and come up with one player that we feel is simply a Beast, a boy wonder, a straight up stud. For our preseason pick we went with Larry Fitzgerald. In the NFC Playoffs and throughout the Super Bowl, right before our eyes, his abilities and talents seem to be peaking and we think he is going to reach that apex and take over the league in 2009. With his partners in crime Kurt Warner, Anquan Boldin and Steve Breaston, the offensive firepower shouldn’t diminish.
