NFL DRAFT: QB RANKINGS 2012

  1. Andrew Luck*, QB, Stanford
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 235.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.77.
Projected Round (2012): First Overall Pick.

The Skinny: Andrew Luck has all the tools and intangibles to eventually develop into an elite NFL quarterback. He comes out of former NFL quarterback Jim Harbaugh’s pro-style system, which makes him an even more attractive prospect because the transition to the NFL should be made a little smoother because of that experience.

  2. Matt Barkley*, USC (is going back to school)
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 230.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.83.
Projected Round (2012): Top 10 Pick.

  3. Robert Griffin*, III QB, Baylor
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 220.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.52.
    Projected Round (2012): Top 15.

The Skinny: Overall, Griffin, at the NFL level, is going to be a dynamic player who will create highlights with his athleticism alone. Combine his accuracy throwing the ball with that natural athletic ability, and you have a quarterback who can really put pressure on even the best defensive units. The big questions revolve around his size and ability to withstand the punishment he will take. Griffin is known for his incredible work ethic and has put on more than 20 pounds while at Baylor.

  4. Landry “Lance” Jones*, QB, Oklahoma (going back to school)
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 216.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.81.
Projected Round (2012): Top 20 Pick.

  5. Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 219.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.61.
    Projected Round (2012): 2-3.

The Skinny: Ryan Tannehill is among the best quarterback prospects in this year’s NFL draft, the kind of big athlete that league personnel executives, have said they see at the position as pro football moves into the future. Former Heisman Trophy winner Chris Weinke calls him, “the total package.” He’s the only QB in the draft who has thrown for at least 3,700 yards in one college season and caught at least 50 passes in another.

  6. Nick Foles, Arizona
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 235.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.01.
    Projected Round (2012): 3-4.

The Skinny: Foles has all the makings of a great quarterback. Nick has most of the physical tools to translate to the next level. The rest of his skill set is coachable and improvable. He will benefit significantly if he can sit and learn before he taking a snap in the league.
  7. Geno Smith*, West Virginia
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 214.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.69.
    Projected Round (2012): 3-4.
  8. E.J. Manuel*, QB, Florida State
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 234.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.61.
    Projected Round (2012): 3-4.

  9. Kirk Cousins, Michigan State
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 202.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.85.
    Projected Round (2012): 3-4.

  10. Brandon Weeden, QB, Oklahoma State
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 220.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.90.
    Projected Round (2012): 4-5.

  11. Kellen Moore, Boise State
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 187.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.93.
    Projected Round (2012): 4-5.

  12. Case Keenum, QB, Houston
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 210.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.83.
    Projected Round (2011): 4-5
  13. Russell Wilson, QB, Wisconsin
    Height: 5-11. Weight: 201.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.68.
    Projected Round (2011): 4-6.
