Here are the major injuries and news stories heading into Week 4 of the NFL.
Miami Dolphins have lost QB Chad Pennington for the season with a shoulder injury. The Fins traded an undisclosed draft pick to the Chiefs for QB Tyler Thigpen. Thigpen will likely be the backup to Chad Henne.
The New Orlean Saints have lost LT Jammal Brown for the season. Brown underwent Sports Hernia surgery and was placed on IR.
The Cowboys have ruled Felix Jones out against the Broncos this week. Jones had an MRI on his knee and it revealed he has a sprained PCL. He will likely be out for one game and then the Boys have a bye week so he should be ready to go after that.
Reports out of San Fran are saying that RB Frank Gore is out at least 3 weeks with a bum ankle. The strain accured during last’s week loss to Minnesota. In his abscense, look for Glenn Coffee to get the bulk of the carries. The rookie has been impressive in limited action.
The Colts will be without Dwight Freeney for 2-3 weeks with a Right Quad injury. Freeney was injured in the Monday Night game against the Cardinals.
The Tennessee Titans released former 2nd Round pick Chris Henry. Henry became expendable after the Titans drafted Javon Ringer. This is simply a hunch but I wouldn’t be suprised if the New England Patriots give Henry a look. He has the tools but seems to lack the vision and patience.
The Philadelphia Eagles have brought back longtime standout LB Jeramiah Trotter. To make room for the veteran, the Eagles cut ties with QB Jeff Garcia. Trotter will add much to the lockerroom with his leadership skills and after two workouts and a physical, the Birds must have thought his conditioning was just fine. You can never have enough leaders in the club house!
