There isn’t a player in the NFL today as vocal as Chad Ochocinco. For the most part his play has backed up his talk, but he has taken his fair share of brutal knockouts.

Chad wasn’t dancing with the stars, but he was seeing them after getting ear-holed by the Browns’ secondary.

Super Bowl Champ Scott Fujita Remembers New Orleans

scott fujita2

Talk about a class act — Scott Fujita of the Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints gave one final gift to the city of New Orleans before he left the team as a free agent this weekend. Instead of keeping his winning Super Bowl check for his young family, Fujita opted to donate the entire sum to charity. Half of the check went to continued coastal restoration in New Orleans, which is still recovering form the devastating affects of Hurrican Katrina. And he gave the other half of the check to earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. Other free agents leaving their respective cities should really take note of Fujita’s actions. Read more

The Arizona Cardinals have signed former Cleveland Browns quarterback Derek Anderson and have agreed to a two-year contract worth $7.25 million on Wednesday.

The deal includes $3.25 million guaranteed, and with incentives would max out at $18.25 million.

Derek Anderson has been brought into compete with current Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart for the starting job.

Anderson was let go by Cleveland earlier this March. He played with the Browns for a five-year period. Anderson made the Pro Bowl in 2007 when he threw 29 touchdown passes and led the club to a 10-6 record.

Veteran quarterback Jake Delhomme who was just released by the Carolina Panthers, agreed to a two-year deal with the Browns on Saturday. The 35 year old Delhomme, who visited with the Browns on Thursday, is going to be given every chance to be the starter.

The Browns have been shopping for a quarterback, a position they haven’t been able to fill since their NFL expansion return in 1999. They also acquired earlier this week backup Seneca Wallace in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks and released Derek Anderson.

With the additions of Delhomme and Wallace this basically sealed the fate for Brady Quinn, who was traded to the Broncos on Sunday. The Browns acquired running back Peyton Hillis, a 2011 sixth-round draft pick and a conditional 2012 draft pick in the trade. Quinn was 3-9 in 12 career starts with Cleveland, but some of Brady Quinns inconsistency probably can be due to the Browns’ lack of talent around him, as well as coaching staf that has changed frequently over the years.

Holmgren has been on the hunt for a QB and knows how important finding a good quarterback is essential to any team’s success.
“It’s a huge decision,” Holmgren said at the NFL Scouting Combine last month. “It’s the most important decision on the football team, and the great teams have that guy.”

The Browns currently have 11 draft picks, and it’s possible they could use a high choice on a quarterback prospect.

While in Carolina Delhomme went 58-40 in the seven seasons as the Panthers starting QB. He led them to their only Super Bowl appearance in his first season. He threw 18 interceptions last season and was cut so the Panthers make room to promote Matt Moore as a starter.

The Broncos trade for Brady Quinn!

Brady Quinn

The Kyle Orton Era in Denver may be at it’s end or perhaps the Broncos were just getting a football ready back-up. Either way the trade between the Broncos and Browns is a done deal with Brady Quinn heading to Denver and underutilized Peyton Hillis with a few draft picks is headed to Cleveland. In 2008, the Broncos and Browns were trying to facilitate a trade when QB Jay Cutler was on the block but the Broncos decided to go with the package that Chicago offered that included Kyle Orton and 2 first round draft picks. The question now becomes who is better long term for Denver, Orton or Quinn. Read more

Who will be the QB of the future in Cleveland

Kevin Kolb1

Who will be the starting QB for the Cleveland Browns next season? That is the question that Browns’ President Mike Holmgren and GM Tom Heckert must decide. According to ESPN’s Sal Palantonio its been reported that the Philadelphia Eagles’ asking price for young QB Kevin Kolb as well as Donovan McNabb will be nothing short of a first round pick.

At the moment The Cleveland Browns and several other teams, most notably Seattle, have been calling about the availability of Philadelphia’s quarterbacks. Tom Heckert, who spent the last nine years in Philadelphia, had a hand in drafting Kevin Kolb. He has been the vocal cheerleader for Kolb. He’s basically been selling the potential star to the Browns organization as the future for the Browns. But the real question is…Are they willing to give up a first round pick for an unproven player like Kolb?

In 12 career appearances Kolb has a 60.8 Comp PCT, 6.8 Yard AVG, 4 TD, 7 INT, and a 68.9 RAT.

Here is where it gets interesting, Kolb is the only QB in NFL history to throw for over 300 yards in his first two NFL starts, both of which came this past season. He was 1-1 in those starts with a loss to Super bowl champs New Orleans and a win against Kansas City. There can be arguments that the Eagles pass a lot hence those big 300 yard games. No matter what, the talk of the town has been Kevin Kolb potential to be great.

Andy Reid drafted Kolb with the 36th pick overall in the second round in 2007. Even though McNabb is still in the nest, The Eagles are looking for Kolb to be their future QB after McNabb leaves. If they weren’t so high on Kolb they would not be asking for such a high price. Heckert in his years with Philly has seen a lot of Kolb and what his abilities are.

At the moment The Browns quarterback situation is upside down. They traded with Seattle for Seneca Wallace on Monday. On Tuesday they released Derek Anderson. On Wednesday it was made known they are shopping Brady Quinn, and today Thursday, they are bringing in former Carolina Panther Jake Delhomme.

Right now its up in the air what exactly the Browns front office may do. Holmgren and Heckert have their hands full as they look to move forward in the future. Is Kevin Kolb the future, does Brady Quinn somehow get a second shot, Does Seneca Wallace tak over or is Jake Delhomme the band aid for next season
