Philip Rivers should know better than to throw in the direction of Darrelle Revis. Its like telling a kid to to respect authority. Any thought of throwing Revis’ way is a complete no no.

Rex Ryan announced that cornerback Darrelle Revis has been ruled out of Sunday night’s matchup with the Miami Dolphins.

“(Revis) will not travel with us,” Ryan said Wednesday. “He is doing about 12 hours of treatment a day. He’s itching to get out there, but we don’t want to risk it by putting him out there.”

Revis strained his left hamstring during the big victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday. Revis let it be known that the injury could take him a week or two to heal.

Dolphins coach Tony Sparano says he wont believe that cornerback Revis is out until he sees it for himself.

BREAKDOWN – AFC East

By Steve O’Reilly

There have been some big acquisitions in the AFC East this year and most notably at Wide Receiver. The Jets stud Cornerback Darrelle Revis is still holding out in hopes to become the highest paid Cornerback in the league, the Dolphins added a Beast of a Wide Receiver in Brandon Marshall, the Patriots had one return from a major injury as Wes Welker is back and ready to go and the Bills drafted a speed demon at Running Back who could be the next Chris Johnson.

Let’s take a look around the AFC East, we’ll note some of the changes and provide some predictions!! Read more

New York Jets: And then there was three…

By Gayle Saunders

If the New York Jets want to live up to all the hype and back up the words of the vocal Rex Ryan, they’re going to need to have all the pieces in place. The only concern is that these pieces know their worth and they know how important they are for the Jets success this upcoming season.

And then there was three… D’Brickashaw Ferguson was one of the four key players looking for a new contract and he finally got his wish. He signed a contract extension with the Jets that’s been reported to be around $60 million over the next six seasons.

D’Brickashaw Ferguson was a former first round draft pick in 2006, and has become a major reason as to why the Jets were the best rushing team in the league last season.

With one key free agent signed the others are still hoping they will get their contract extensions as well.

Center Nick Mangold, who was also a first round pick in 2006 and one of Ferguson’s compadres on the Oline is still without a contract extension. Mangold is in the final year if his contract; due to the lack of interest the jets have shown in signing him he had talked about not reporting to the team’s mandatory mini-camp. Mangold did end up reporting though, but whether he plans on reporting when training camp starts without a new contract remains to be seen.

On the defensive side linebacker David Harris and CB Darrelle Revis have yet to be granted extensions. Harris, a second round pick from 2007, made 127 tackles including 82 solo ones last season. Revis, had 54 tackles and six interceptions. Revis has three years left on his current contract, but since his rise to greatness and his ability to be a true shut down corner he wants to be paid accordingly. As a result of stalled negotiations, Revis has sat out through parts of off season workouts.

When you have only so much time – Money Matters!

This article was written by Steven O’Reilly in coordination with Barry Bach, who contributed with the Players information and synopsis!

The average NFL career is 3.5 years according to the NFL Players Association. An interesting fact that we must consider when talking about players financial matters. Follow me for a minute as we look at things a little differently. Imagine for a moment that you have an opportunity, a window as it were to get into a Buffet full of wonderful food, top shelf entrees. To be sure, your entire life you’ve been starving. The work, effort and talent needed to get into this room is mind bogglingly difficult and the odds are that you have never personally known anyone that was ever in this buffet. While in the buffet there are obstacles that can be life altering. Things that can happen at any moment that can change your entire well being, so while there are lavish riches there are also terrible consequences that can be tragic and even paralyzing. The point here is, when you have the opportunity to get into this buffet you eat as much as you can, when you’re in this room of riches you capitalize as much and as quickly as possible! Why? Because tomorrow is never promised and in the NFL you are, as they say, “one play away”. Read more
