Channing Crowder is Ready to Unretire

Could defensive coordinator Mike Nolan be the reason for someone to unretire? In the case of retired Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder, that would be a yes.

Crowding recently told the Atlanta Journal Constitution he wants back in if the Atlanta Falcosn will have him next season.

“I’d love to play in Atlanta,” Crowder said. “Nolan is my guy.”

Crowder said that he even reached out to Mike Nolan via text.

“I told him if he needs a better linebacker let me know,” Crowder said. “He texted me back and said ‘I’ll keep in touch.’ “

Crowder had the opportunity to play under Nolan for one season while he was defensive coordinator with the Dolphins. Crowder also made it known, that the reason for his sudden retirement was due to the birth of his son, and now he’s ready to make a comeback.

However playing for the Dolphins is not something he is planning to do.
He had some harsh words for his old GM in Miami Jeff Ireland when he spoke with NFL.com

“Jeff Ireland “is not a good person.”

Crowder actually grew up in Atlanta and attended Atlanta’s North Springs high school. I’m sure he welcomes a reunion with the city of Atlanta as well with Mike Nolan.

Matt Moore: Long Term Option or Journey Man?

In Miami, there is a gutsy backup quarterback trying to win hearts over, and his name is Matt Moore.

Moore has done whats been asked of him, and that’s to win ball games. The (3-7) Dolphins are sporting a three -game winning streak and they might have their back up QB to thank. With the Dolphins winning three games, the “Suck for Luck” campaign has ended. With the way Moore has been playing, the Dolphins may now have to rethink if he’s a long term option.

You can’t dismiss the numbers folks, a three game winning streak, going 51 of 72, 613 yards, six touchdowns and one interception. Matt Moore has the second-highest passer rating in the NFL over his past three games (118.6), ahead of Tom Brady (95.6) and behind only Aaron Rodgers (135.9). The Dolphins have out-scored opponents 86-20 during their three-game streak and have not allowed a touchdown.

Its easy to dismiss what he’s done if the front organization is thinking rebuild mode, but Moore has won over his teammates, and in the meantime they believe he’s a difference maker.

“He is everything we need him to be,” Reggie Bush told the Miami Herald. “He is doing a great job. He’s a huge, huge, difference-maker.”

Right now Moore is under contract through 2012, which means he won’t be able to get out there an test the free agent market. It will be interesting to see what the Dolphins do in the off season at the quarterback position.

A) Do you bet the farm on a high first round QB?
B) Do you bring in another seasoned veteran QB to compete with him?
C) Or do you do both?

At the moment, Moore is doing everything under his power to make this decision a tough one. Can Moore actually be the guy? Will Tony Sporano be brought back for another season? There are many questions to be answered, but either way, Moore has his Dolphins riding on wave of emotions and a three game win streak.

Looks like the dolphins are looking for veteran depth at the running back position to backup Reggie Bush and rookie Daniel Thomas,as they just added Larry Johnson to the mix for insurance.

The 31-year-old Johnson was drafted by the Chiefs in the first round of the 2003 draft, he had most of his success in Kansas City for seven seasons. His most successful years were in 2005-06 where he had consecutive 1,750-yard seasons and ran for a total of 37 touchdowns.

Dolphins announced their signing via Twitter Tuesday morning. Before bringing Larry Johnson in they worked out University of Miami Alum Clinton Portis, and Ex-Giant Tiki Barber. The Dolphins waived running back Kory Sheets, who did not play all season due to an Achilles tendon injury.

Last season wasn’t quite that impressive for Johnson only gaining 2 yards on five carries in two games he played. The Redskins released him in September. His career totals are solid as he’s rushed for 6,221 yards and 55 TDS. However, over the last three season he’s only played in 16 games.

Philadelphia Eagles Bring Ronnie Brown to the Nest

The Philadelpia Eagles have signed long time Dolphins Running back Ronnie Brown.

Brown was the second overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, and had his best season in 2008. With LeSean Mccoy coming into his own at the running back position Ronnie Brown will fit in nicely with what the Eagles do and is already used to splitting carries with Ricky Williams. Both Brown and McCoy, along with quarterback Michael Vick, give them direct-snap options in Andy Reid’s version of the Wildcat offense with which Brown excelled in as a Dolphin.

Brown is a founding contributor to the Wildcat offense and best believe Andy reid will have packages in mind for Ronnie Brown if he can stay healthy throughout the season. For a runningback who excels in the passing game and runs with power this is a solid pickup for the Philadelphia Eagles.

general manager Howie Roseman said in a statement.

“Ronnie is an all-around running back with a versatile skill set,” “He can run the ball, catch it, and does very well in pass protection. He’ll add some good size to our backfield and he’s a good character guy. We think he’ll be a tremendous compliment to LeSean and the other young backs on this team that we really like. You can never have enough good running backs in this league and we are happy to have Ronnie join us.”
