Brian Dawkins lays Michael Vick out!

One of the most vicious of Dawkins’ many highlight-reel hits was delivered on Michael Vick in the playoffs in 2002. Vick could barely get up.

Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees just landed a coveted honor in sports…No its not another Super Bowl Ring or an MVP Trophy . Drew Brees is the new cover model for this year’s edition of the “Madden NFL” video game. Is he scared of the curse? No…he actually believes its “a great way to cap off an amazing year”

“I believe in fate, and if it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be,” he said. “But destiny is stronger than any curse, and this team is destined for great things.”

On Thursday EA Sports announced that the New Orleans Saints QB quarterback would be featured on the front of “Madden NFL 11,” Brees, who led the New Orleans Saint to a 31-17 victory over Peyton Manning and the Colts in Super Bowl XLIV.

The “Madden” cover is one of the most popular honors in sports, even though it has been attached to the much-discussed curse. Such recent stars who were affected by the curse, Troy Polalmalu, Donovan McNabb, Michael Vick and Shaun Alexander suffered serious injuries during the seasons that they appeared on the cover.

Brees said he hopes the presence of the Saints’ fleur-de-lis logo on the “Madden” cover “keeps people focused on what happened to New Orleans, and what the people of this city have overcome.”

Brees was chosen by fans who voted online to determine the game’s cover athlete. The other choices were Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne and Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen. “Madden NFL 11″ will be released by EA Sports on August 10, 2010.

Could Vick be on his way to Carolina?

Michael vick

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick said on a weekend radio appearance that if he could choose to play for any team in the NFL, it would be the Carolina Panthers.

Appearing on the Gangsta Grillz radio program on Atlanta station Hot 107.9 FM, Vick was asked by host DJ Drama to respond to a listener question regarding where he’d like to play.

“If I could play for any team in the league, it would probably be two teams, but if I had to pick one, it would probably be the Carolina Panthers,” Vick said.

When asked why Carolina, Vick responded:

“Well, you know, it’s close to home. I like the uniforms. You get to play against Atlanta twice a year. Ain’t nothing better than playing against your former team, right? So, yeah, that would be a good look, it would be a good look.” Click on this link to view Vick’s appearance on the show and go to about the 7:40 mark to hear him discuss his NFL preference.

The Panthers weren’t interested in Vick last preseason when he was looking to sign with a team and are not expected to be interested now.

They enter next season with veterans Jake Delhomme and restricted free agent Matt Moore and appear highly interested in picking a quarterback in April’s draft.

Vick returned to the NFL with the Eagles last season after a two-season absence while serving a prison sentence for overseeing a dogfighting ring during his heyday as a star for the Atlanta Falcons.

Vick has apologized for his actions and said he is committed to using his experience to help him have a better life and to use the message to help youth not make similar mistakes.

Vick played sparingly last season for the Eagles, appearing in 12 games mostly as a situational player in a Wildcat role. He completed 6 of 13 passes for 86 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. He also ran 24 times for 95 yards and two TDs.

The Philadelphia Five!!

Just when you thought the QB Situation couldn’t get any more insane, The Philadelphia Eagles just signed Jeff Garcia. When looking at the QB position in Philly with their 5 familiar names it conjures images of another famous 5 person group, The Jackson 5! Now imagine the Eagle QBs were mirror images to the J5, let’s have some fun and speculate who is who and why:
