4 NFL Teams get serious about Moss

The four teams that are the most serious about Randy Moss are the Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, St. Louis Rams and Washington Redskins league sources told NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi on Wednesday.

All four teams have until 4 p.m. ET today to make a waiver claim on Moss, whom the Vikings waived Tuesday, less than a month after trading a third-round draft choice to the Patriots to re-acquire Moss.
The Rams are highest on the totem pole with a waiver priority list at 13th followed by the Redskins at 15th, the Dolphins at 18th and the Titans are 23rd. The Titans, Redskins and Rams all have a bye this week, which would be the perfect opportunity to work Moss into their systems.

Tuesday it was reported by NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora that the Rams, Dolphins, Titans and Seahawks were considering Moss.

For any of the teams right now that want to pick up Moss, they would have to pay him $3 million in salary if he is claimed. If he does not get picked up, the Vikings will have to pay for his full salary and Moss would then become an unrestricted free agent allowing him to sign with any club.

Its been reported that some people in the Vikings front office knew head coach Brad Childress intended to waive Moss, however the news might not have traveled to team owner Zygi Wilf. Childress has total power over team personnel decisions for the Vikings. Moss’ actions in the locker room and after Sunday’s loss at New England was the reason Childress’ gave him his walking papers.

Randy Moss waived by Vikings

Randy Moss has been waived by the Minnesota Vikings.

Linebacker Ben Leber made it known to the media that coach Brad Childress informed the team that Moss had been let go during a team meeting Monday afternoon.

The bizzare move was reported by the NFL Network, it comes days after Moss’ post game interview with the media which was following the loss to his old team, the New England Patriots.

In Randy Moss’ last words as a Viking, he professed his love for the Patriots and spoke very higly of his old Coach Bill Belichick and his Patriot teammates. He also told the media that he vowed to do future press conferences where he will ask the questions and provide the answers. Moss was higly upset that the league fined him $25,000 last week for not meeting with the media. Moss is obligated by the NFL to meet with the media.

Moss had one catch for 8 yards in a loss to the Patriots.

Moss to Vikings for 3rd Round Pick

In the news of the day the New England Patriots have shipped Randy Moss to Minnesota for a 3rd Round pick in 2011. Moss returns to the team where it all started, the team that drafted him and a guy that definitely stretch the field and light up the scoreboard. The Patriots usually get the better end of these deals but in my opinion they didn’t. There is know way in my opinion that a 3rd round pick in 2011 is going to provide the impact of a WR that basically does everything for the Pats, let’s break it down.

The most potent weapon for the Pats is slot WR, Wes Welker. The thing that makes this guy so good is the constant deep threat in Randy Moss down the sideline. If Safeties play “two deep” and eliminate the fast threat of Moss, that opens up the underneath stuff for Welker. However without Moss, Welker will now likely get more press coverage in the slot with a safety playing the middle part of the field to come up and lay the lumber on any crossing and hook routes. In short, the Patriots lost one weapon and took away from another.

Moss is known for his exceptional hands and speed!

For Minnesota, the Vikings get the deep play guy they so desperately need after Sidney Rice went with injury. He will provide a nice little tandem with Percy Harvin and one thing is certain, the Vikings gave Brett Favre plenty of weapons now.

It wasn’t too long ago that Randy Moss and Tom Brady were the most feared QB to WR tandem in the NFL. In 2008, the Patriots set records offensively and Moss found the End Zone over 50 times! It’s doubtful he will ever be able to duplicate that success again but the mere thought of that tandem had Defensive Coordinators nervous to face New England. Not anymore! The only real proven weapon is Welker, coming off ACL injury and a couple of younger WR who don’t have the pedigree of Randy Moss. I know the Patriots don’t like to have guys around who negatively talk to the media, like Moss has been but in my opinion this was a silly move by New England.

It reeks of one these egotistical Bill Belicheck moves that says “I don’t need talent to win”…I know Patriot fans hope he’s right. The rest of the AFC East just found out that today is a good day!

Randy Moss: “It is a bad feeling…feeling not wanted”

Don’t know if Randy Moss is a betting man…but if he was there is a good chance he’d bet on himself not being a Patriot next year. Moss told CBSsports.com on Monday that there is a good chance this will be his final season with the New England Patriots, and its something he’s not too happy about.

As it stands right now, the Patriots and Moss have had no contract talks yet. The reality of it all is…that his deal expires after this season. When you look at the monster numbers he’s put up while in New England:
1,000 yards in three seasons, 47 total touchdowns. Kinda blows you away… no?

“When you have done so much and put so much work in, it kind of feels like I am not wanted,” said Moss, who is slated to earn $6.4 million this season. “I am taking that in stride and playing my final year out, and whatever the future holds is what it holds. But it is kind of a bad feeling — feeling not wanted. It is not like my production has gone down.”

Moss has stated that in the past four months nothing has changed to make him feel like he is in the team’s future plans, His partner in crime Tom Brady is also in the final year of his contract, But the team are very close to agreeing ona an extension for the Golden Boy. Its been reported by the Boston Herald that Brady has been offered a three-year, $58 million extension.

“I am a little older and understand the nature of the business — the older you get the more your skills supposedly diminish, but I think I am getting wiser in how to use my physical skills. That’s the frustrating part when you put so much heart and desire into things and feel like you are not wanted.”

Just in case you forgot how “gangster” Moss has been in New England.

BREAKDOWN – AFC East

By Steve O’Reilly

There have been some big acquisitions in the AFC East this year and most notably at Wide Receiver. The Jets stud Cornerback Darrelle Revis is still holding out in hopes to become the highest paid Cornerback in the league, the Dolphins added a Beast of a Wide Receiver in Brandon Marshall, the Patriots had one return from a major injury as Wes Welker is back and ready to go and the Bills drafted a speed demon at Running Back who could be the next Chris Johnson.

Let’s take a look around the AFC East, we’ll note some of the changes and provide some predictions!! Read more

Patriot Games?

By Steve O’Reilly

The New England Patriots are a team that has enjoyed more success over the last Decade than any other Franchise. They have won 3 SuperBowl titles over that span and have won 4 AFC Championship’s. The 2007 Season saw them complete the Regular season undefeated only to lose in the SuperBowl to the New York Giants. In coordination with this success has always been an unwritten, underlying rule known commonly amongst football fans as “Patriot Way”. The questions that looms large now for the Patriots are these – Is there a growing disconnect between the Patriots and superstar Quarterback Tom Brady? Will he be succumbed to the method of which the Patriots do things or does he have the leverage? What about Randy Moss? Will the Patriots send a message using Moss’ lack of effort last season? Let’s took a look a bit deeper into these potential sticky situations! Read more

The Patriots agreed to terms with free agent WR Torry Holt, the Boston Herald and Boston Globe have both reported.

Holt, is a seven-time Pro Bowler, who recently played with the Jacksonsville Jaguars last season. He caught 51 passes for 722 yards and was held without a touchdown in his first season out of St. Louis.

The former Rams receiver would join Randy Moss in Tom Brady’s passing attack, that at the moment is short on depth.

The Patriots lost Wes Welker to injury at the end of last season. Welker led the NFL with 123 receptions last season, howeve his availability for the start of the new season is unknown.

One thing is noticeable in the video below…Torry still runs beautiful routes!!!

Randy Moss: Beast of the Week (Week 9)

Randy Moss didn’t have the most spectacular game of his career, stat wise. He did however change the game in many ways. Recently on Inside the NFL which airs on Showtime, Warren Sapp said that Randy Moss is the only player that made us change out of our normal Defense…in effect he broke the Tampa 2! He is a game changer and this week his 24.5 Yards Per Catch average show just that. Moss can score in the blink of an eye! Take a look at this incredible one handed catch. Read more
