After seeing this hit, you’ll see why some folks may miss the old NFL. Oooh Wee! Wasn’t it violent? Back in the day you respected receivers who went over the middle to make a living just to make the big catch. I know… I know…Safety first. But we will never really see this kind of intimidation from NFL Safeties again. Thanks to Seahawks old timer Darryl Williams for bringing me back to the old school with this one!

Sleepless in Seattle:Pete Carroll still Riding with Tavaris Jackson

If you live in Seattle and you’ve been watching the Seahawks offense it’s a sure thing you might be “Sleepless in Seattle.” There is no way around it other than to keep it real. The Seahawks’ offense has been as bad as bad can get. That being said, Head Coach Pete Carroll is not putting the weight on his quarterbacks shoulders.
At the moment the only other team to have scored fewer points than the Seahawks are the Chiefs. The Seahawks have only scored 17 points this season and the Seahawks’ longest play from scrimmage this season is 17 yards. On the year, Jackson is averaging 178 yards passing a game. So far he has passed for 356 yards.
Coach Carroll puts his two cents on it.
“He’s pretty much taken what’s there and there hasn’t been a lot of situations where he’s turned down a big throw,” Carroll told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. “He’s done a good job of not forcing the football. He’s making good decisions in that regard and that’s why we have a real good thought about him and us moving forward.”
This Sunday the Seahawks’ go up against the Cardinals whose defense has gave up some major passing yards. The Seahawks passing attack could use a boost from Sidney Rice whose been out with a shoulder injury as of late. Hopefully Rice can help out his offense and play in his first game for the Seahawks ASAP.
Could Leinarts sleepless nights end in Seattle?

It seems that the city of Seattle has a new team name…The Seattle Trojans. Pete Caroll has been linked to various former USC players this off season. One of those players, is someone Caroll has had a great relationship with. That player, is none other than former Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart.
Pete Carroll has spoken to Leinart about coming on board next season, according to Scott Wolf of the Los Angeles Daily News , He had a rough stint with the Arizona Cardinals and after leaving the nest, he found himself in the city of Houston. He inked a one-year deal with the Texans where he was behind Matt Schaub and Dan Orlovsky on the depth chart.
Looking at Seattle’s QB situation it could be a new stomping ground for Leinart. It wouldn’t be the fist time a USC Trojan revived his pro career with Seattle. Mike Williams recently came back to form under Pete Carroll’s guidance, and Williams showed he was in it to win it this time around.
The Seahawks were one of the QB needy teams that also passed on a QB in the draft. With that being said, where does that leave the QB situation? Caroll and the Seahawks could still bring in another veteran QB once the lock out is over. Matt Hasselbeck or Carson Palmer could be an option, or they could bet the farm on Charlie Whitehurst, bringing Leinart in to compete.
They say some things happen for reasons, and Leinart to the Seahawks makes sense in a weird way. This is the kind of story they make cheesy feel good movies about. I don’t think it could touch a Kurt Warner type story but it has wings. The reality is, this is probably the last shot for the former Trojan QB to show and prove. Could Leinart pull a Mike Williams 2.0 is the question.
After six years with the Cardinals, what have we learned about Leinart? Not much. NFL Pundits have every reason to be skeptical about the future of Matt Leinart.
The upside is, Carroll knows Leinart “the player” and the person inside and out. Its like playing football when your father is the coach, you will play just a little harder, knowing that person knows what your capable of. One thing to note…this is not the PAC 10, and Caroll will expect his A game this time around.
