Weekly Recap – Week 13

WEEK 10 - FANTASY FOOTBALL PICKUPS

Week 13 is in the books and what have we learned? The Colts and The Saints are destined for greatness as they stay undefeated. The Vikings took a big L in Arizona as Kurt Warner and the Cards got the best of them. Michael Vick was welcomed home with open arms, ok well maybe not open arms but open end zones as he scored his first TD of the season. Lets go around the league and give you the highlights of all this weeks games!

Philadelphia Eagles vs Atlanta Falcons
Michael Vick finally made it back to the end zone, a place he hadn’t been in more than three years. Everything else went right for Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Back in the city he once ruled, Michael Vick put up a pair of touchdowns—one running, the other passing, both of them his first since 2006—and basked in the cheers of the Georgia Dome crowd as the Eagles dominated the short-handed Falcons 34-7.

Dallas Cowboys vs New York Giants

Brandon Jacobs picked the perfect time for the biggest play of his career taking a short pass from Eli Manning 74 yards for a touchdown that put the Giants in front of the Cowboys for good. Giants win a big one 31-24 and make it a tight race inthe NFC East.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Carolina Panthers
Josh Freeman kept guiding Tampa Bay inside the 20-yard line and Carolina kept taking the ball away. Five turnovers later, the Buccaneers’ rookie quarterback was stunned and their miserable season took another ugly twist. Jonathan Stewart rushed for 120 yards and the game’s only touchdown, and the Panthers picked off Freeman five times on Sunday—three times in or near the end zone—in a 16-6 victory over the Buccaneers.

New England Patriots vs Miami Dolphins

The New England Patriots extended bad road trip continued in Miami, which sent Tom Brady to his knees Sunday as his final desperation pass was picked off, he buried his face in the turf, as if trying to hide. There was no running from the blown opportunities for Brady and the Patriots, who missed various chances to put the game away in the 4th quarter before the Miami Dolphins rallied for a 22-21 victory. Chad Henne threw for a career-high 335 yards and directed a 51-yard drive for the winning field goal with 1:02 left.

St. Louis Rams vs Chicago Bears

The way Jay Cutler started the game, the Chicago Bears looked as though they were headed to a blowout win. Instead, they had to hang on to get by St. Louis. But as they say a win is a win, in with this season they’ll take any they can get. Cutler faded after a strong start, throwing for 143 yards and a touchdown without an interception, and the Bears beat the Rams 17-9 Sunday after dropping four straight and six of seven.

Oakland Raiders vs Pittsburgh Steelers
The Super Bowl champion Steelers are losing steam coming into the end of the season, their confidence is in question, and they’re losing leads and losing games to the Oakland Raiders? Louis Murphy caught an touchdown pass from Bruce Gradkowski with nine seconds remaining, his second score in the final 5 1/2 minutes, and the Raiders scored three late touchdowns to stun Pittsburgh 27-24 on Sunday and deal the Steelers their fourth consecutive loss.

New Orleans Saints vs Washington Redskins
The New Orleans Saints must have had some saints watching down on them. Two of their biggest plays were unbelievable flukes, terrible mistakes that somehow transformed into positive results. Then they needed the other team’s kicker to miss a 23-yard field goal just to stay alive, and a freeze-frame replay reversal to get the ball in overtime, leading to a 33-30 victory. The Saints are destined for the Superbowl.

Cincinnati Bengals vs Detroit Lions
Cedric Benson tied the franchise record with his 5th 100-yard game of the season on Sunday, setting up a 23-13 victory over the Detroit Lions that had even greater significance for the franchise.
The Bengals (9-3) assured themselves of a winning record for only the second time in 19 years.

Denver Broncos vs Kansas City Chiefs

Josh McDaniels had a strong love connection for Matt Cassel from their four years together in New England, and even tried to bring the free agent quarterback with him to Denver. However now that Cassel is playing for the Broncos’ rival, McDaniels wants nothing more than to beat him. Every time. McDaniels and the Broncos used a heavy dose of the running game to manhandle the Kansas City Chiefs 44-13 on Sunday.

San Diego Chargers vs Cleveland Browns

Tomlinson stiff-armed Cleveland’s Hall of Famer Jim Brown out of eighth place on the career rushing list and scored his 150th career TD on a 4-yard run as the Chargers won their 7th straight and 15th in a row in December, beating the Browns 30-23 on Sunday.

Tennessee Titans vs Indianapolis Colts
Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts keep finding new winning formulas, and the Colts keep making history with each win. Instead of another patented comeback or impressive air show, Manning opened December by playing keepaway from Tennessee and leading the Colts to a 27-17 victory for their record-tying 21st consecutive regular-season win.

Minnesota Viking vs Arizona Cardinals
The two grey haired Vets in Kurt Warner and Brett Favre went head to head this past weekend. Kurt Warner got the best of old-timer Brett Favre by throwing for 285 yards and three touchdowns. The Cardinals defense opened up a can of whoop ass on Favre in a shockingly one-sided 30-17 win. (side note) Favre set an NFL record for consecutive appearances at 283 games.

Baltimore Ravens vs Green Bay Packers
A month ago, the Packers were in limbo and on the verge of letting their season fall apart. Now they’ve won 4 straight games beating the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night 27-14. The win wasnt pretty, but these days a win is a win as they stay in good standings for that wildcard spot.

Buffalo Bills vs New York Jets
Looks like quarterback Mark Sanchez needs to take some more sliding lessons. At least the New York Jets’ bid to make a late-season playoff push is back on better footing. Sanchez threw a go-ahead touchdown pass to Braylon Edwards before hurting his right knee, and the Jets D-Rex (defense) finished the job in a 19-13 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night.

Houston Texans vs Jacksonville Jaguars
When the Jacksonville Jaguars look back on this season, they might point to two games against AFC South-rival Houston…And two huge mistakes by Texans running back Chris Brown. David Garrard threw two touchdown passes, had his first turnover-free game in a month and the Jaguars stayed in the AFC wild-card hunt with a 23-18 victory over injury-depleted, turnover-prone Houston on Sunday.

San Francisco vs Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks were expecting another big running day from Frank Gore, who had romped over the Seahawks for 202 yards 3 months ago in San Francisco ran just nine times Sunday(shocking). However they got a career passing day from Alex Smith, too bad a boatload of 49ers mistakes kept Seattle in the game. Olindo Mare kicked a 30-yard field goal as time expired to send the Seahawks to a 20-17 victory over San Francisco.
