THE SKINNY: A Chat with Amobi Okoye!
Not too many people can claim the list of accomplishments that Houston Texans Amobi Okoye can. Born in Nigeria, he moved to America and made quick work of school. Entering the University of Louisville at the age of 16, Okoye was the youngest to be playing Division I sports. Choosing to be a Cardinal over Harvard for football reasons, Amobi quickly became a very good Collegiate player and an extremely bright one at that. So good at the Defensive Tackle spot that he was Drafted 10th overall by the Houston Texans in 2007.
With his new fame and resources, Okoye has made a tremendous impact in the lives of people near and far. His Foundation has many facets and programs that reach a magnitude of people. His Kick Off 4 Kids offers $10k Scholarships to kids in multiple Cities across America, Tackle Hunger aids in feeding the poor and their International wing, C.A.T.E (Changing Africa Through Education) helps his home land of Nigeria in educating their people! Impressive indeed.
Not only is Amobi very talented on the field he’s also very generous off of it. Check out the interview and watch us chat about his Foundation work and of course, football and the Houston Texans!!
