Da Beard!

When I was growing up playing football we would sometimes crack jokes about the opposing teams age and or size, especially if they were better than us. “Did you see that guy, he had a beard!” would be a phrase you might hear on the bus ride back home after a buttkicking. It always seemed as though the guys out on the field with the beards were tough, not to be challenged. In many ways Brett Keisel provides the Steelers with a bit of bite. The Defensive End is relentless in two things, his pursuit of Quarterbacks and of helping others in need. Brett and his family are so very active in helping others that you quickly forget how intimidating he looks on the gridiron when you see how caring he is off of it.
Showcasing the positive stories that NFL players create through their generosity is something that we enjoy. When a big burly bearded man shows the world he’s a kind generous person, we take notice. In my opinion it’s best to bring you right to the source, more times than not their words are better than mine. Visit BrettKeisel.com to get your Beard fix!
A Brett Keisel fan has created a website for the Fans and this site showcases all that Brett has been a part of and things he continues to do…from Brett-Keisel.com (an unofficial fan page)

Thanks to the generosity of Brett and Sarah Keisel and photographer Carol Maurin, fans can own a piece of history. They are opening up the “Keisel Gallery” to fans who wish to purchase a photo of #99 featuring “Da Beard”. Photographer Carol Maurin took some fantastic photos of Brett, all capturing his great personality! This offer is great in itself, but there is more. ALL proceeds raised through this sale will benefit two organizations Brett and Sarah support. They are the Homeless Children’s Education Fund and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Plans to shear the beard are in place. Brett spoke with members of the WDVE Morning Show Thursday and announced “it was time for The Diesel to transform back into Brett Keisel.”
The event will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Diesel Club Lounge.
The doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the “shearing” will commence around 7:00 p.m.In typical Keisel-style, he is making sure a worthy cause benefits from the beard shaving extravaganza. All proceeds benefit cancer programs at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC!
Take a moment to join Mr. Keisel in all his endeavors and help make a difference in people’s lives. Visit his website and make a donation if you can, Mr. Keisel is a leader that anyone would be proud to follow!!

Thank you for spotlighting Keisel’s work. Most fans know how great he is on the field but he does the same great work off the field. The latest charity endeavors are nothing new. He works with various charities in events throughout the year-every year. I came across your piece on his website and was happy to see someone notice all Brett does.
I noticed the fan who started the Brett Keisel unofficial site is now running Bretts official site. http://www.brettkeisel.com. I like that he went with a fan to run it! Great guy.
