Right now Its looking like RB Brian Westbrook will be able to overcome the effects of two concussions and make a shot at a healthy return next season, the only problem is…at this moment there’s no guarantee he’ll be playing in Philadelphia.
Westbrook, admitted last week that he may have returned too soon after he suffered two concussions during the middle of the season, Brian Westbrook spoke with Dan Rather regarding his position with the Eagles. He’s unsure he’ll be back with the Eagles because of contract issues:
“I’m not sure. That’s one of those things that really is up to them. I’m under contract another year, and I would love to be in Philadelphia. There’s no other team that I would love to play for more than the Philadelphia Eagles. But it’s a situation where in the NFL, younger, cheaper is better for teams. It’s one of those things. It’s part of the business. I experienced it when I was younger, and I experience a different aspect now. You have to try and find out, for the team, what’s better for them.”
Westbrook is 30, and is due a nice piece of change next year… $7.25 million. When a Eagle player hits the age of 30, Its never personal its just business. The Eagles front office has had a history of letting players go at the age of 30. He told Dan Rather he will continue to monitor his health as the offseason goes on:
“My goal is to get back out there and play football again. That’s what I’m gonna train this offseason to do. That’s what I’m gonna put everything that I can into be able to do next year, is to go out there and play football at a high level. That’s my goal and that’s what I’m planning on doing.”
