Skinnypost highlights the best games of the upcoming Week 5 NFL action!
New England Patriots vs Denver Broncos
Here is the classic story of the Teacher vs Student as Bill Belichick heads into Denver with his 3-1 Patriots to face off against Josh McDaniels and the suprising 4-0 Broncos. McDaniels served under Belichick as the Offensive Coordinator before landing the Head Coaching job in Denver. The Broncos boast the leagues best scoring Defense allowing only 26 points so far this season. The Patriots are coming off two impressive wins against the Falcons and Ravens after losing against the Jets in the Meadowlands. The Pats offense has been clicking of late and this will be a huge test for the Broncos who have been playing with a chip on their shoulder after most of the national pundits wrote them off when they traded you know who! This should be like a Playoff game in October and we not talking baseball. Expect hard hitting and tons of action as both coaches know what the other is trying to do. Gayle likes the Pats to come in and get a win while Steve thinks the Broncos stay perfect on the year going to 5-0!
Atlanta Falcons vs San Francisco 49ers
The Falcons come off their bye week with a bad taste in their mouth after losing to the Patriots in Foxborough. The week off should give them time to get the running game figured out as it hasn’t been as strong as it was in 2008. Michael Turner is a beast and he may break out against the Niners but maybe not! The Niners have been impressively good on that side of the ball and Patrick Willis is playing exceptional ball. The Niners only loss on the season came to hands of the Vikings on a last second bomb from Favre who worked his magic in the 4th Quarter. Frank Gore will be a game time decision but it doesn’t look promising. The story of this game lies in the passing game. Tight Ends as the Falcons have all world Tony Gonzalez now a Dirty Bird and the Niners boast the young talent of Vernon Davis. Don’t expect newly signed Crabtree to play this week as he will need a little time to learn the offense and the NFL game. We both like the Falcons coming off a bye week to pick up the win on the road!
Cincinatti Bengals vs Baltimore Ravens
The battle for AFC North supremacy is at stake as the 3-1 Bengals travel to the 3-1 Ravens for the Division lead. The Bengals held off a pesky Cleveland team last week in overtime while the Ravens lost in a great game against the Pats. The Ravens had a few drops from their receivers and a few drops of the yellow flags from the refs that really cost them the game. The offensive attack in Baltimore is much improved but the heat this week clearly lies on the shoulders of Dominique Foxworth and Fabian Washington. If they can control the chatty OchoCinco they will win easily, if not they will still win but it could be a closer game. Carson Palmer and the Offense is playing well but the story so far for Cincy is how well the defense is playing. They will have their hands full this week but in the end, Baltimore is too much, too angry and too good for the Bengals. We like the Ravens to win at home and improve to 4-1!
New York Jets vs Miami Dolphins
This heated rivalry will be better than the records indicate. The Jets get to unvail their new weapon in Braylon Edwards recently acquired from the Cleveland Browns. The Jets lost a tough one last week against the Saints in the Superdome as the rookie Mark Sanchez came back down to earth and tossed 3 picks. The D’-Rex Jets defense is still playing at a high level. The Dolphins meanwhile look to build off their win against the Bills that saw more Wildcat than in Kentucky! With Chad Pennington done for the season the Phins have decided to go with a ball control style offense and that means using their best weapons on offense, Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown. This battle is always fun to watch regardless of the records as these two teams know each other very well and Monday Night Football brings out the best in everybody! We like the Jets to go into Landshark Stadium and get back to their winning ways!
