Detroit Lions Matthew Stafford has been named the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year by Pro Football Weekly and the Pro Football Writers Association.
The 2009 first overall draft pick out of Georgia threw for 41 touchdowns & 16 interceptions this year. While doing so, Stafford lead Detroit to a 10-6 record and their first playoff appearance since 1999.
The 23 year old Stafford became only the fourth QB in NFL history to throw for at least 5,000 yards in the regular season. His 5,038 passing yards in 2011 puts him in elite company. The only other players to break 5,000 passing yards in a season are Dan Marino, Drew Brees and Tom Brady.
