Reggie Wayne and the Colts win one for Coach Pagano
Reggie Wayne was all business Sunday as he had his best game of his career versus the Packers. Wayne’s Colt’s upset the Packers in front of their home crowd in Indianapolis.
While Wayne attended to business on Sunday his business was also personal, as the team received the news that head coach Chuck Pagano was diagnosed with leukemia last week. Some folks might not realize that the Colts veteran receiver and his head coach go back way before the Colts. When I say “back”, were talking Wayne’s days as a high school athlete in Louisiana.
Chuck Pagano is one of the reasons Reggie Wayne attended the University of Miami as Pagan recruited Wayne out of high school. During the 1995 to 2000 seasons at the U, Pagano worked as an assistant under Butch Davis. It’s nice to see that both their career paths have led them back together on to the same team, unfortunately Pagano’s first season as the Colt’s head coach was cut short this season with his recent diagnosis.
On Sunday it was an emotional roller coaster for the Colts locker room as they played their hearts out for their beloved coach. Wayne had a tremendous day catching 13 balls for 212 yards and the game winning touchdown. In honor of Pagano he wore orange gloves and orange mouth piece for leukemia awareness.
Hats off to Reggie Wayne and the Colts for honoring their head coach Chuck Pagano with an emotional and inspiring 30-27 win over the Green Bay Packers.
