Week 4 Power Rankings

Week 3 is in the books and here is how all 32 stack up! Disagree with the rankings? Jump in and tell us why!

1. Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens are clicking on both sides of the ball. This team is better than the AFC Championship team from a year ago! Flacco looks good, Willis McGahee is healthy and paired with Ray Rice gives them a great 1-2 punch. Sky’s the limit!
2. New York Giants
The G-Men are simply a fantastic defensive team and a strong running team but the suprise is how well their Wide Receivers are playing…more to come on that front! Eli is efficient and makes good decisions with the football. This team will be tough to beat in the playoffs.
3. New Orleans Saints
The Saints have been dynamic on offensive but their D’ has been averaging 3 turnovers a game. That is a great formula for success. The running game is also suprisingly strong and when Mike Bell returns they will have 3 headed attack with Bell, Thomas and Bush!
4. Minnesota Vikings
The Vikes are a solid team on both sides of the ball. The offense is rejuvinated with #4 on board and the D’ is tough with the Williams Wall and edge rusher Jared Allen. This team is poised for a playoff run.
5. Indianapolis Colts
The Colts really impressed this week. Winning a tough one against Miami then going across country on a short week and winning easily in Arizona. It doesn’t seem to matter who Peyton throws too, his is simply the best!
6. New York Jets
The J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets! are the real deal! As long as rookie QB keeps playing like a seasoned vet this team will win the AFC East. The D’-Rex defense has a swagger and the offensive is effecient. The fans in NYC are feeling pretty good right now!
7. Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles got through the McNabb injury and went 1-1 in his abscense. He should return after the bye week and give the offense it’s full arsenal of weapons. This team is good on O’ with their weapons and solid on D’. Special Teams is dangerous with DeSean Jackson returning kicks.
8. New England Patriots
The Pats were really impressive this week against a good Atlanta team. They shutdown Tony Gonzalez, limiting him to 1 catch. The Pats also found a running game with Fred Taylor going over the century mark for the first time this season.
9. San Francisco 49ers
The Niners, even in a loss, showed something this week. This team is for real, they play tough inspired football, kinda hard not too when Mike Singletary is your HC. Frank Gore is a difference maker and Patrick Willis just may be the best MLB in the game.

10. Denver Broncos
We flirted with the Packers here but in the end the Broncos get the nod. They have the #1 defense in the league, have only turned the ball over 1 time and the 2 headed monster of Buck and Moreno is a nice 1-2 punch.
11. Green Bay Packers
The Packers are good offensive team with great weapons. Ryan, Driver, Jennings and Rogers make a nice young core. The D’ is inconsistant, they laid an egg against Cincy at home but had a nice win this week against the Rams.
12. Atlanta Falcons
The Dirty Birds faced a buzzsaw in New England this week – anytime the Pats are coming off a loss you don’t want to be the next team to face them. They still have the weapons to be a complete team and should bounce back after the bye week.
13. San Diego Chargers
The Chargers are a bit of a mystery. They looked good at home against Miami and on the road against Oakland in Week 1 but couldn’t overcome the better competition when they faced Baltimore. The AFC West has become a two horse race and Broncos have a head start!
14. Chicago Bears
The Bears are a middle of the pack team. They aren’t going to really blow anyone out which means two things 1. they can win everygame 2. they also can lose everygame. Late game heroics only carry you so far, this team has to start putting teams away in what is a tough NFC North.
15. Cincinatti Bengals
The Bengals shocked the football world this week with a win against the Steelers. Funny how this league is, if Stokely doesn’t make the “Immaculate Deflection” the Bengals are 3-0 on the flipside if Limas Sweed hangs on to that TD pass the Bengals are 1-2. For now, they are what they are and they are 2-1!
16. Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys finally get a big win in the big stadium with the big screen. This team goes as Romo goes, the D’ is tough and O’ has weapons but they need to play consistantly week in and week out in order to make the playoffs in a division that has 2 very good teams.
17. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers are a suprising 1-2 and have dropped 2 straight. This team is still a Championship caliber team but needs to make the big plays when they are presented. Mike Tomlin will have this team ready for Week 4 and their next opponent might be in trouble, an angry Steeler team is scary!
18. Arizona Cardinals
This team is out of rhythm on offense but has the weapons to be very good. Questions on defense and in the running game have made them average. The Running Backs need to hold onto the ball better and the O-Line needs to give Warner more time to find his great receiving core. After the bye let’s hope they figure it out.
19. Buffalo Bills
This Bills team brought in T.O. to give the offense a boost but he went without a catch in Week 3. The O-Line is patchwork and they aren’t helping Trent Edwards very much. The D’ is solid but without much offense to speak of it’s going to be tough for the Bills to circle the wagons.
20. Jacksonville Jaguars
Maurice Jones-Drew is the heart of this team and his Week 3 performance saved this team from 0-3. The little man plays with a big heart but the offense around him needs to get it going. They don’t have enough weapons in the passing game to be consistant and they need to get it going to catch the Colts in the AFC South.
21. Houston Texans
The Texans are hot and cold. In Week 2 they lit it up with Andre Johnson having a monster day then in Week 3 they looked flat. Questions on defense and a suprisingly inconsistant running game keeps this team outside the Top 20. They have time to get it going but need to start soon!
22. Tennessee Titans
The Titans are a suprising 0-3 but we’re not counting them out yet. They have the weapons on offense to be dangerous but the questions remain in the defense especially in the secondary. They are playing hard and tried to mount a comeback on the road in Week 3 but fell short. It’s a long season but every game is must win at this point.
23. Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks should be lower on these rankings just for their uniforms alone! Seriously though they need to be more consistant in the running game week in and week out. When Matt Hasselbeck returns they should receive a boost but for now this team isn’t going anywhere but down.
24. Miami Dolphins
Losing Chad Pennington was a huge blow to a team that is already 0-3. Chad Henne will take over the reigns with a little Pat White mixed in. This team was a suprise in ’08 going 11-5 but they won’t reach those heights in ’09. Looks like we’ll be seeing more Wildcat than ever before.
25. Carolina Panthers
The QB position is killing this team. Jake Delhomme is simply making too many errant throws for this team to win. They play hard and have the weapons on both sides of the ball but they simply aren’t getting done. Our advice, give it to Williams and Stewart until their cleats wear out! The bye week this week is a blessing!
26. Detroit Lions
The Ford Family looked as if they won the Super Bowl after finally ending the long losing streak but it was well deserved! The Lions have a nice young nucleus of talent and if they don’t turn the ball over will be in good shape to actually win again before the year is over!
27. Oakland Raiders
The bottom of the rankings is actually harder than the top with many teams fighting to be the worst. The Raiders are good team with a horrible QB. JaMarcus Russell has regressed and his lousy throws are putting his team in a bind. They would be better off bringing Garcia back!
28. Washington Redskins
The Skins have major issues but it all starts with their Head Coach. His play calling has been horrible and the team doesn’t look prepared to play against NFL competition. The Mike Shanahan watch is officially on!
29. St. Louis Rams
The Rams are a mess on offense but are playing decent on defense. Steven Jackson is a stud but they have no passing attack to speak of. If they can get Donnie Avery going and some semblence of O-Line then they might get a win this season.
30. Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs were no match for the Eagles in Week 3. With Dwayne Bowe out they have no shot. Larry Johnson’s best days are behind him and Matt Cassel isn’t earning that big $! The defense has no pass rush to speak of and the secondary isn’t any better. It’s gonna be a long year in KC!
31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Gone are the days of Brooks, Sapp, Rice and Barber – now it’s just Barber and he isn’t getting any help. The Bucs are a mess on defense, they miss assignments, miss tackles and miss the guys we just mentioned! Byron Leftwich was benched for Josh Johnson who added a late spark against the GMen!
32. Cleveland Browns
The Browns have issues on both sides of the ball. The only stud they have is Josh Cribbs but he only gets a chance to return punts when the D’ actually stops someone. They were blown out in Week 2 at home and embarrassed in Week 3 vs the Ravens. The QB’s are a mess and Jamal Lewis looks like he hit the wall. Sorry Browns fans!

Thanks, now I wont lose any more sleep over the 49ers ranked lower than the Bears. Favre proves to be worth the wait for Viking fans, and stole the win from Samurai Mike.
The Bengals took care of business and this team may be on its way up the NFL’s food-chain. Marvin Lewis may not be off the hot seat yet, but he can breath a little easier. The Bengals are better than Chicago and San Diego.
Dallas with the #1 rushing attack faces Denver with the #1 ranked defense in yards and points allowed. This is the Bronco’s first big test, and will move up a couple of spots on every one’s power rankings if they can pull off the upset.
If it’s true that Josh McDaniels in Denver doesn’t have a clue, isn’t as smart as he thinks he is, has no idea how to run a NFL team, lost the respect of his locker room, has put the franchise in chaos, etc., then how exactly would Jamie Dukes and John Clayton describe the job performances of Morris and Mangini in Tampa and Cleveland? God help the fans of those two teams. It’s going to be a long, long season for them.
