Week 6 Power Rankings

Week 5 of the NFL is history and some teams are starting to seperate themselves. The Broncos suprised everyone with a win against the Patriots, the Bengals won a big one against Baltimore on the road and the Dolphins climbed back into the AFC East race with a big win against the J-E-T-S! In the meantime the Rankings are all shook up! Without further ado…
1. New Orleans Saints – The top pick was a difficult one. The Giants are playing great football and probably justify the top billing just as much as the Saints do. The difference for us is the Offensive explosion for the Saints, they have more of it, but barely. The beauty of this dillema, we get to see the Saints and Giants play this weekend!
2. New York Giants – The GMen are playing great ball on offense and defense. They look like a complete team and we can’t wait to see them battle the Saints this weekend in what will be the game of the week!
3. Indianapolis Colts – New Coach, new Receivers, same Peyton Manning! The Colts are 5-0 and look like a tough out for anyone!
4. Minnesota Vikings – The Vikes are undefeated and they too have enough weapons on offense and Jared Allen is just a straight beast! Favre, Peterson and Harvin are proving to be a dangerous combination!
5. Denver Broncos – The new look Broncos finally crack the top 5, while they are undefeated with back to back big wins against good teams their offense doesn’t look as prolific as the other undefeateds!
6. Philadelphia Eagles – Donovan McNabb is back and the Eagles introduced Jeremy Maclin to the football world. The Eagles now have plenty of weapons in D-Jax, Westbrook, McCoy and Maclin…this is a dangerous team!
7. Cincinnati Bengals – The Bengals are making believers out of everyone. To go into Baltimore and win is no easy feat but they did it! The Bengals are getting great play from Cedric Benson and the Defense is much improved!
8. Atlanta Falcons – The Dirty Birds took the bye week and regrouped after a tough loss in New England and then they completely dominated the 49ers! The offense is dangerous and when they jump out to a big lead like they did on Sunday the dogs can hunt!
9. Chicago Bears – Da’ Bears face a big test this week against the Falcons, we will find out if they belong in the Top 10 after this week.

10. Pittsburgh Steelers – The Steelers appear to righted the ship after losing two straight. Back to back wins against the Chargers and Lions has the Champs riding high again!

11. New England Patriots – The Pats lost a tough one against the Broncos in Denver. Brady hasn’t quite find his form yet but when he does, this team will be just fine.
12. Baltimore Ravens – Back to Back losses have the Ravens reeling. This week they face another challenge against the undefeated Vikings, could be 3 in row if they aren’t careful!

13. Arizona Cardinals – The Cardinals won a close one against the Texans last weekend. Our advice, get Larry Fitzgerald more involved in the offense, when you do good things happen!

14. New York Jets – The Jets got a heavy dose of the Wildcat and couldn’t stop it, their Coach was none too happy about it either. This is still a good team but the only quality win came against the Pats!

15. Green Bay Packers – The Packers need to due something about their O-Line in effort to make a playoff run, the only Cheese right now in Green Bay is Swiss!

16. Miami Dolphins – The Phins jumped back into the Playoff race with a big win against the Jets on Monday. Henne looked great and so did the RB combo of Ricky and Ronnie!

17. San Diego Chargers – The Bolts face a stiff test on Monday Night, the good news is that they are playing at home. A win against the Division rival Broncos will go a long way, while a loss really hurts!

18. San Francisco 49ers – The Niners got smacked around at home by the Falcons and that is why they fell so far. Shawn Hill and Co’ doesn’t have the firepower to come from behind if the D’ puts them in a hole early.

19. Seattle Seahawks – What a difference a QB makes! Matt Hasselbeck returned and the Hawks put a thumping on the Jags this week. The NFC West just got a bit tighter!

20. Dallas Cowboys – The Cowboys won but had to go into overtime to beat a bad Kansas City team. If they don’t stop making mental mistakes this team will not be in the post season in the toughest Division in football.

21. Houston Texans – Up and Down go the Texans. One week they play great, the next week not so hot. They better get it going or catching the Colts will be a 2010 goal!

22. Detroit Lions – The Lions appear to be getting better every week and when Matt Stafford comes back they could win a few more games. They were in it to the end against the Steelers but fell short of the upset.
23. Washington Redskins - The Skins aren’t going to make the playoffs this year, not unless they get a miracle. The 100 million dollar man is starting to look like they should have split that money up and filled more holes.

24. Jacksonville Jaguars – The Jags were crushed against the Seahawks in Week 5, a 41-0 drubbing can’t leave a good taste in your mouth!

25. Carolina Panthers – The Panthers just have simply too many weapons to be this bad. They played great in the second half of the season last year, perhaps they can get it going again.

26. Tennessee Titans – The Titans are just like Tom Petty…”Free Falling”! It’s hard to believe this was a 13 win team a year ago.

27. Cleveland Browns – The Browns finally won a game that neither team really wanted to win. They have issues but not winning one game won’t be one of them!
28. Buffalo Bills – Personally, I would put the Bills more towards the bottom but we have a collection of Rankers here and I was overrulled. The Bills offense is horrid and TO, with no O-Line is a waste of money.

29. Oakland Raiders – The bottom half of the rankings is actually harder to due than the top. The Raiders are stuggling and the G-Men ran them out of the Meadowlands by halftime!

30. Kansas City Chiefs – The Chiefs looked better against the Cowboys but poor tackling did them in. We ranked the Raiders above them just because the Raiders beat them already this season.

31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – The Bucs are a better team with Josh Johnson at the helm but they still don’t have anything working on Defense. They simply can’t continue to give up huge chunks of yardage in the secondary.

32. St. Louis Rams – Poor Steven Jackson, he must feel like Tom Hanks in Castaway…looking for Wilson!

OK so the Pats are ranked 11 because of what they might do? The JETS beat them and they are ranked higher? SInce before the start of the season and now during the season, it drives me crazy to see how football people sucking up to the Pats based on nothing this year. WIth a QB coming off a major injury, free agent pick up of washed up players, a shell of the defence they were and still i heard people saying they were going to be BETTER than the team that lost in the Super Bowl.
The Patriots beat the Falcons and Ravens, 2 quality wins, took the undefeated Broncos into overtime on the road. The Jets meanwhile did beat the Pats, 1 quality win. They gave up 31 points to Miami! If we used the logic that “since they beat them they should be ranked higher” shouldn’t we put the Dolphins ahead of the Jets? Both teams are 3-2 and the 3 Wins for the Pats were against better teams than the 3 wins for the Jets…sorry it drives you crazy but until the Jets beat someone with a winning record (save the one game against the Pats) then they are what they are…middle of the road!
Steve,
Not to belabor the point, but the shoulda, woulda, coulda’s of Patriot Nation believe we should be 6-0, but as the old ball coach “Big Tuna” said when he coached the Pats – “You are what your record is”.
The J-E-T-S …J-E-T-S….J-E-T-S …will end with a losing record. Sanchez has hit the rookie wall and
Ryan has committed the position to him for the season. Live and die with rookies – except for Tom Brady.
Great site my esteemed nephew,
Uncle Joe
Steve,
Oh, and by the way – you may wish to reconsider your Power Rankings after yesterday’s 59-0 debacle. By my count of missed opportunities, or opportunities not taken to spare humiliation of the Titans, the score could have been 3 touchdowns, 4-points on a field goal, a missed referee’s call on a 2-point safety, (higher) resulting in 27 additional points. How does a (woulda, coulda, shoulda been) 86-0 score factor into your ratings scheme?
Uncle Joe
They will get their respect but don’t get too excited…the Titans are a walking debacle and were without their best cover corner in Cortland Finnegan or their other starting Corner in Nick Harper and instead had to start two rookies, it wasn’t really a fair fight!
I do love the passion of you New Englanders..
Thanks for stopping by!
